Debut Kia Sportage Black Edition

Kia Motors presents its most popular Sportage SUV in an exclusive Black Edition. On the outside, shiny black lacquered details are the hallmark of this variety. Production of the Sportage Black Edition began in November at the Zilina plant in Slovakia. The Kia Sportage Black Edition is offered with all available engine options, both in two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Prices start at $105,990. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) and include a bonus for the client in the amount of 8,000 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD).

Piotr Stobinski, Product Director at Kia Motors, says: “The new special edition, the Black Edition, has been created by combining very attractive styling with the most frequently selected optional equipment options. This version of the Kia Sportage is equipped with elements of the Business Line, Functional and Safety packages that were previously available. All together, as always with the Kia brand, now offered at a very attractive price. The cost of additional equipment of the Black Edition compared to the equipment of the L version is as much as 16,000 USD. (4 c.u. = 1 USD). The price of the Sportage Black Edition is $8,000. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) higher than the L version. Buyers who decide to choose it will receive the same amount.”

And he adds: “Sportage is the first model available in the Black Edition, which we present for sale in Russia. A range of stylish details further enhance the appeal of our most popular SUV and give customers even more options to personalize its appearance.”

The Sportage Black Edition is a sleek SUV with glossy black details on the exterior. These include the grille, front and rear bumper lowers, front fog lamp housings, and roof rails. In addition, the exterior sills and bumper trims are also finished in high-gloss black.

The Sportage Black Edition also features new, darker Kia badges front and rear, as well as glossy black "Sportage" lettering in the center of the trunk lid. The 17-inch alloy wheels are also black and have darker hubcaps with the Kia logo. Door handles in body color replaced the previous chrome ones.

The Black Edition is available in seven exterior colors that are in perfect harmony with the high-gloss black details. These include Pearl Black, Deluxe White, Infra Red, Lunar Silver, Blue Flame, Casa White and Penta Metal. Inside, the Sportage Black Edition is trimmed with high-quality fabric upholstery with eco-leather elements. The steering wheel, gear lever and armrests on the doors are covered in leather. There is also a choice of leather upholstery (available with the Black Edition Plus) in Black and Carmelo.

Extensive standard equipment ensures comfort and safety

The Kia Sportage Black Edition includes, among other things, front and rear parking sensors, power driver's seat lumbar adjustment, power side mirrors with turn signals, automatic rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and automatic dual-zone air conditioning.

The multimedia system is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and access to second-generation UVO Connect services and provides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. With constant Internet access, the system provides useful road information such as fuel prices and gas station locations, parking location and availability, and real-time traffic information.

Standard assist systems offered by the Sportage Black Edition include: Auto Brake System with 3 modes of operation - City, Country and Pedestrian Detection (FCA), Blind Spot Monitor (BCW), Reverse Traffic Monitor (RTCW), Traction Assist lane. (LKA), automatic high/low beam switching (HBA), traffic sign recognition (SLA), driver fatigue warning (DAW).

Gasoline, diesel and mild hybrid engines provide low fuel consumption, emissions and operating costs.

The Sportage Black Edition is available with a choice of four engines. Entry-level naturally aspirated 1.6-liter GDi engine with 132 hp. develops a maximum torque of 160 Nm. The turbocharged 1.6-liter T-GDi engine with gasoline direct injection develops a maximum power of 177 hp. and maximum torque of 265 Nm. The 1.6L Smartstream diesel engine develops a maximum power of 115 hp. and maximum torque of 280 Nm. Paired with a mild hybrid system, the EcoDynamics+ version boosts the output of the 1.6-litre diesel, assisted by a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and electric motor, to 136 hp. and 320 Nm.

Depending on the engine, the Sportage Black Edition is available with front- or all-wheel drive, as well as a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

In addition, the Black Edition Plus package is available for the Black Edition, which costs 7000 USD. (4 c.u. = 1 USD). The package includes features such as automatic tailgate opening, leather upholstery available in two finishes - black and Carmelo, ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats and a height-adjustable passenger seat.

Kia Sportage in Russia

In the case of the Kia Sportage, entry-level S trim sales are just 3%. The most popular version is the M version, which accounts for nearly 50% sales. Sales of the special Business Line version based on the L version are 33%, while the share of the L version is less than 3%. Top-of-the-line equipment - GT Line - is chosen by 11% buyers.

Most buyers, the 42%, decide to buy a Sportage equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.6 GDI powertrain. The sales share of the turbocharged 1.6 T-GDi engine is 38%. 20% buyers choose the Sportage in the EcoDynamic+ version, i.e. with mild hybrid drive (MHEV). Twice as many customers chose to buy a Kia Sportage with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
