New Tiguan Allspace debuts - new equipment and assistance systems

In the fall of 2020, the Tiguan was replaced, now it's time for a version with a longer wheelbase. The new quality of the Tiguan Allspace is provided by a redesigned design, new operating systems and ancillary and high-end devices such as IQ.LIGHT interactive LED matrix headlights or tactile fields to control the factory automatic air conditioning.

Today, every second Tiguan in the world (55 percent) that leaves the factory gate is a long-wheelbase model. The Tiguan Allspace XL version can be converted into an SUV with seating for seven (optional) or into a roomy transport vehicle with 1,920 liters of luggage space. Orders for the new model will be accepted in the coming weeks, and in Germany the car will be available in Life, Elegance and R-Line trim levels.

Since the start of production of the long version in 2017, about 1.5 million Tiguan Long Wheel Base (LWB) vehicles have been sold worldwide. In Europe, this version is offered as the Tiguan Allspace, which can be equipped with a third row of seats on request, a special option for cars in this class. This model will be an ideal car for families and people leading an active lifestyle.

Previously, the Tiguan has undergone major technical and stylistic changes, now the new Tiguan Allspace appears on the market - with changes in the exterior, a set of digital indicators in the cabin, modern technical solutions, new equipment options and an integrated communication system with the environment. Its huge transport capacity has not changed - in the five-seat version, the luggage compartment is from 760 to 1920 liters, and in the seven-seat version - from 700 to 1755 liters. Optional seats 6 and 7 can be folded down in the same way as the second row seats and backrest. The third-row seats, when folded, go into the floor, forming a flat surface. There are three TSI engines and two TDI engines to choose from. You can choose a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (optional or standard on some trims) that shifts gears quickly and at optimal times. In turn, excellent traction is provided by the optional all-wheel drive (4MOTION).

Due to the change in style, especially at the front, the body of the Tiguan Allspace has become 22 mm longer (length 4723 mm); however, the dimensions of the spacious interior have not changed. The redesigned grille and the new shape of the headlights emphasize the elegance of this model. For the first time, the Tiguan Allspace can be ordered with IQ.LIGHT adaptive matrix headlights with LED technology. Another novelty in the field of lighting are turn signals, whose LEDs light up in sequence, giving a special, visually appealing effect. On either side of the new Volkswagen grille logo, an illuminated stripe gives the front end a special flair.

Three equipment options to choose from

Volkswagen has prepared new versions of Tiguan Allspace equipment. Life, Elegance and R-Line variants will be available in Germany. Elegance is distinguished by numerous chrome elements in the interior and exterior of the car, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels. Drivers who prefer a sporty driving style will probably opt for the R-Line version. A leather multifunction sports steering wheel with tactile pads for various functions and R-Line badge, Carbon Gray trim, Digital Cockpit Pro and 19-inch or 20-inch wheels are hallmarks of R-Line trims. .

The air conditioning, heating and cabin ventilation functions, which are concentrated in the standard three-zone automatic air conditioning system, are controlled using a new digital module in the center console. Instead of traditional knobs and buttons, touch fields and sliders appeared. The required data can be called up by the driver via the color head-up display (option). It displays speed information, road signs and warnings in the driver's line of sight. The optional Trailer Assist, known from other Volkswagen models, assists the driver in maneuvering a vehicle towing a trailer. The permissible weight of the Tiguan Allspace trailer with 4MOTION all-wheel drive is 2.5 tons.

Semi-automatic driving is provided by the IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist system, now also available on the Tiguan Allspace. Depending on the type of transmission, from 0 km/h (vehicles with DSG) or 30 km/h (vehicles with manual transmission) to 210 km/h, this system can automatically steer, brake and accelerate. Travel Assist uses well-known systems such as ACC active cruise control and standard Lane Assist to keep the vehicle in the selected lane.

The next step in the digitization of the Tiguan Allspace

Full communication with the outside world is provided by the new multimedia systems Tiguan Allspace (MIB3 of the latest generation), compatible with online services, allowing you to use various services. The Online Connectivity Unit (OCU) with an embedded eSIM card allows you to use We Connect (for an unlimited period) and We Connect Plus (free use in Russia for one or three years). Devices such as a system of voice prompts for various functions that respond to spontaneous phrases or the ability for the driver to use personal settings via Volkswagen ID (thanks to information stored in the cloud) are additional elements of the Tiguan Allspace multimedia systems (depending on version). Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can now also be used wirelessly via App Connect Wireless.

An excellent sound experience is possible thanks to the optional high-quality audio equipment developed by Volkswagen in collaboration with Harman Kardon specifically for the Tiguan Allspace. A subwoofer, a 16-channel digital amplifier, 8+1 powerful speakers and a 480-watt amplifier provide you with clear high frequencies and strong bass. Four sound reproduction options, a surround sound mode and extremely clear speech reproduction ensure excellent acoustics throughout the cabin.
