The countdown to the premiere of the new Volkswagen ID.7 has begun: the world premiere of the electric flagship of the ID family. will take place on Monday, April 17th.

Less than two weeks prior to this date, Volkswagen is publishing additional information about the powertrain, suspension and comfort-enhancing features. Designed as a long-distance vehicle, the new ID.7 will strengthen the brand's position in the upper middle class in Europe, China and North America.

Volkswagen plans to increase the share of electric models in its sales in Europe to 80% by 2030. The new ID.7 is an important milestone along the way, as it is scheduled to launch on the European market by the end of 2023.

Camouflaged ID.7s are still undergoing final testing near Alicante, Spain. The new all-electric model shows its strengths on the winding and mountainous roads of the region.

“In the ID.7 model, we have further exploited the potential of the MEB platform. We also used a new, more powerful and economical electric motor. In addition, we have redesigned the suspension to further improve ride comfort. The combination of an excellent drivetrain, a comfortable chassis and a long range makes the ID.7 the ideal long-distance limousine,” says Kai Grunitz, Volkswagen Board Member in charge of Development.

Better performance and higher efficiency thanks to the newly developed electric motor. The ID.7 is the first model on the MEB platform to use the new efficient drive. This is the most powerful and most torquey electric motor in the ID family. It is designated APP550 and was designed and manufactured by Volkswagen Group Components in Kassel.

The powertrain has been particularly optimized in terms of energy consumption: depending on the battery size, a WLTP range of up to 700 kilometers and a charging power of up to 200 kW are predicted. These two figures clearly indicate that the ID.7 is ideal for long distances.

New Chassis - High Comfort and Excellent Driving Performance

The optional DCC Adaptive Suspension and Driving Dynamics Manager have been significantly improved. The choice of driving modes allows you to customize the operation of the chassis to individual preferences - from comfortable to sports suspension. Together with the new progressive steering, these systems ensure very good driving characteristics and maximum stability. These technologies have been carefully tested during trials in Spain.

Extremely spacious interior and easier operation. The interior, finished with high-quality materials, offers plenty of space in both the front and rear seats. The cockpit has been completely redesigned, all the necessary information and warnings are displayed behind the wheel. Other important information is provided to the driver via a standard head-up display with augmented reality.

The heart of the system is the infotainment display, which comes standard with a 15-inch diagonal and is simplified to operate. For example, air conditioning controls are now much easier to access - this is the brand's response to user signals. Customizable direct access buttons also enhance usability.

ergoActive seats: with heating, ventilation and massage function. Volkswagen has developed new driver and front passenger seats for the ID.7. Depending on the version, they offer up to 14 electrical control directions. They also have a completely redesigned massage function. In addition to individual settings, the driver and front passenger can select automatic mode, in which case the temperature and humidity sensors in the seats recognize the need for cooling and/or heating and control the settings accordingly.

The newly developed massage function of the optional ergoActive Premium seats for the driver and front passenger provides a particularly high level of comfort. In the upper middle class, to which the ID.7 belongs, this type of seat is a novelty previously reserved for luxury cars.
