In the case of the Giulia GTA, Alfa Romeo engineers worked to improve aerodynamics and handling, but above all to reduce weight: the same principles were used for the 1965 Giulia GTA. Active aerodynamics has been specifically designed to increase downforce. These solutions include technical knowledge gained directly from Formula 1 through close collaboration with Sauber Engineering and the use of the Sauber Aerokit.
Side skirts, a special rear spoiler and an aerodynamic front spoiler (aero splitter) perform the same function. Also new are an Akrapovic titanium central exhaust system integrated with a carbon fiber rear diffuser and 20-inch center-bolt alloy wheels offered for the first time in a sedan. Improved handling at high speeds by increasing the front and rear track by 50 mm and the development of a new set of springs, shock absorbers and suspension bushings. In the GTAm, the aerodynamic front end has been further improved with the use of an oversized aerodynamic carbon fiber front and rear spoiler for perfect load balancing at high speeds.
In terms of performance, Alfa Romeo's powerful all-aluminum 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo engine is capable of delivering 510 hp. in standard configuration and 540 hp. in the Giulia GTA, thanks to careful calibration by Alfa Romeo engineers, who managed to optimize the new Akrapovic central exhaust system, made of titanium and providing a unique engine sound, is also optimized. The interior of the car impresses with new details such as Alcantara® trim on the dashboard, door panels, storage compartment, side pillars and center seat panel. Alcantara® was used even more extensively in the GTAm version, which by removing the rear seat created a special "cavity" completely covered in Alcantara®, which contains special holders for carrying helmets and a fire extinguisher. . New accents in matt carbon give the interior a special elegance and underline its technical excellence. In the new GTAm, the cockpit is slightly different because it has a roll bar, no door panels or rear seats, and instead of a traditional door handle, there are belts, another nod to the world of racing.

However, power alone is not enough to deliver outstanding performance. The work on reducing the weight of the car was extremely painstaking and gave impressive results in GTA. Here, the weight has been reduced by 100 kg thanks to the use of ultra-light materials such as carbon fiber for the driveshaft, engine hood and roof, front bumper, front fender flares and rear fender flares, as well as the body structure. sports seats with Sabelt six-point seat belts.
In addition, another lightweight material is aluminum, of which the engine, suspension, doors and other composite materials are used for the rest of the components. For example, Lexan, a unique polycarbonate resin widely used in the motorsport world, is used to further reduce the weight of side and rear windows. The result is a curb weight of 1,520 kg, which, combined with power increased to 540 hp, results in an excellent weight-to-power ratio of 2.82 kg/hp, making the Giulia GTA the undisputed best-in-class and offering exceptional performance. . Accelerates quickly from 0 to 100 km / h, thanks to the Launch Control system, the chronometer stops in just 3.6 seconds. The Giulia GTAm offers a road-legal two-seat configuration with an oversized retractable front aero fairing and a carbon fiber rear wing to maximize the model's sportiness.
