The use of the new platform also allowed the engineers to lower the center of gravity, which also improved ride quality. Safety has also been enhanced by the use of multiple energy dissipation paths.

The new generation ELANTRA is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.6 MPI petrol engine with 123 hp. Powertrain is provided by a six-speed manual transmission (6MT) or an optional continuously variable automatic transmission with selectable drive modes (CVT). The 6MT variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds and has a top speed of 200 km/h. For the CVT version, these values ​​​​are 10.7 seconds and 195 km / h, respectively. Thanks to the use of a CVT transmission, the new generation is able to reach speeds up to 100 km / h 0.9 seconds faster, and fuel consumption is lower by as much as 1.0 liters. Depending on the selected optional equipment, fuel consumption is between 5.9 and 6.2 liters. On the contrary, CO2 emissions are more than 10 percent lower.

Both drive versions are available in three trim levels. The base Modern version with a manual transmission costs $81,900. (4 c.u. = 1 USD), and with an automatic transmission CVT - 87,000 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD). For the Smart version, prices are 93,900 USD. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) and 100,400 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD), respectively. The top executive variant with 6MT gearbox costs $113,900.
