Hyundai has released the first photos and videos of the new Santa Fe. The new version of Hyundai's flagship SUV offers a host of upgrades, as well as new hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. It will also be the first Hyundai vehicle to be offered in Europe with an all-new third-generation platform that improves performance, handling and safety.

The new Santa Fe is Hyundai's longest running SUV on the market. It appeared on the market 20 years ago and has been on sale in Europe since 2001. This D-segment SUV was valued for its comfort, spaciousness, comprehensive standard equipment and functional interior design. A number of recent changes make the new Santa Fe even more attractive to buyers. In addition to introducing hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains for the first time, the new Santa Fe features a bold and distinctive design, as well as a host of new technologies and safety systems.
“The new Santa Fe has premium features and an attractive design. Bold lines that run from side to side and front to back give the Santa Fe the powerful yet sophisticated look that SUV buyers have come to expect. In addition, we have added many amenities and equipment to create a true family SUV that is a pleasure to drive.” Said Sun Yup Lee, executive vice president and global director of Hyundai Design Center.
“With many new features, the new Santa Fe is a real premium car. This once again shows that we listen to our customers and constantly provide the latest solutions that will meet their needs. This also applies to the powertrain portfolio. With the introduction of the new Santa Fe, Hyundai SUVs will be available with electrified systems ranging from hybrid solutions to fuel cells.” Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, vice president of marketing and products, Hyundai Motor Europe, said.
Bold new design gives it a unique character
The Santa Fe's new look is unique in the SUV segment and combines power and refinement. The striking design of the front end features a characteristic wide grille covering the main headlights. The three-dimensional drawing of the grill filling emphasizes its solid character. The unique, eye-catching T-shaped LED daytime running lights have a dual function and also serve as turn signals.
A strong protective plate on the bumper covers the lower air intake, forming a visual unit with the wide grille. The rugged exterior is complemented by vertical aerodynamic intakes at the corners to improve airflow efficiency.
Wide wheel arches and new alloy wheels, including optional 20-inch wheels, emphasize the strong character of the new Santa Fe. The new design of the rear lights with an extending strip visually expands the body. A horizontal red reflective strip connects the rear lights. To achieve harmony and refinement, the designers have reshaped the rear bumper, making the design of the rear more calm and refined. The exterior of the new Santa Fe shows maturity and confidence, reflecting Hyundai's premium quality.
New premium luxury package
The new Santa Fe will be the first Hyundai vehicle to be available with an optional Luxury package for more refined styling. The exterior package includes special 20-inch wheels and bumpers, front and rear, and body-color side panels instead of matte black.
New luxury interior design options
The new Santa Fe cabin now offers more space, comfort and convenience than its predecessor. It offers a new level of luxury and every detail is finished with high quality materials that are soft to the touch. The lower dash and center console have been redesigned, and the new infotainment system's touchscreen is now 10.25 inches. The center console with buttons for selecting the direction of movement is organically connected to the dashboard. For the first time, the new Santa Fe features a drive mode selector. The control knob is located on the center console for easy switching between different driving modes.
All buttons are grouped in the center for intuitive and ergonomic use. Everything is at your fingertips from the driver's seat. The cup holder can be closed when not in use, and the storage compartment under the console provides additional storage space. The premium cabin update also includes a new all-digital clock with a 12.3-inch display.
More efficient and new electrified drive systems
Following the success of the Kona Electric and Kona Hybrid models, Hyundai is expanding its electrified SUV lineup. The new Santa Fe is the first Hyundai in Europe to go on sale with the new Smartstream Hybrid and plug-in hybrid system. More details on the new Santa Fe's powertrains will follow in the near future.
The new platform provides better performance and even more security.
The new Santa Fe is Hyundai's first model in Europe and the first Hyundai SUV in the world to be based on Hyundai's all-new 3rd generation vehicle platform. The new platform allows for significant improvements in performance, handling, fuel economy and safety.
Thanks to the airflow management system, the new platform improves ventilation and allows heat to be removed from the engine compartment. Thanks to the new platform, the stability of the car is increased, the weight is reduced and the center of gravity is lowered. Aerodynamics have also been improved and air resistance has been kept to a minimum for excellent fuel economy.
The attachment points of the front wishbones have been placed closer to the center of the wheels, allowing for more agile handling. At the same time, the noise level is reduced thanks to a reinforced sound absorption system in vibration-sensitive parts.
The new platform also provides a significant improvement in crash safety. Through the use of a multi-directional load distribution design, hot stamping and the integration of a high-strength steel plate, the platform provides better shock absorption by the car in the event of a collision, minimizing the deformation of the interior.
