Mercedes-Benz E-class coupe and convertible
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet are the brightest representatives of the model family in the luxury segment. Now, thanks to numerous improvements, these cars become even more attractive. They feature "polished" styling in a sporty tone, including a refreshed front belt. The full LED headlights have a slimmer look and the LED taillights have redesigned inserts.
At the same time, the two-door variants share the key features of the redesigned E-Class, including electrified and therefore more efficient petrol and diesel engines with integrated starter generator (ISG), new generation assistance systems and the MBUX (Mercedes) infotainment system. -Benz User Experience).
The E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet will debut in showrooms in autumn 2020.
The emotional appeal of both dream cars has become even stronger. The E-Class Convertible with classic convertible top offers space and comfort for four people on long journeys. And all year round: as an option, it can be equipped with the AIRCAP electric turbulence control system and the AIRSCARF neck warmer. Unlimited usability is also provided by the soundproof roof covering, whose multi-layer structure ensures comfortable conditions regardless of the season and reduces the noise level in the cabin. As a result, travelers can talk freely even while driving at higher speeds. With expressive coupé proportions, sensuous design and four-person comfort, the new E-Class Coupé combines the beauty and classic qualities of a Gran Turismo with state-of-the-art technology.
The new E-Class is equipped with the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz assistance systems with a particularly high level of active safety. The coupe and convertible can react quickly and intelligently when the driver does not respond. The handle detection function is now capacitive, which improves the convenience of driving in semi-automatic mode. This is one of the reasons why the new E-Class is equipped with a completely new intelligent steering wheel. The worktops have a glossy black finish, while the trim and bezel have a silver finish. The functions of the instrument cluster and the operating system are controlled via touch panels, which no longer use optical but capacitive technology.
The new E-Class is also equipped with the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system. Two large 10.25-inch screens are standard, placed side by side to create a majestic panoramic cockpit. Two 12.3" displays available on request.
E-class after facelift
E for efficiency: The restyled E-Class takes a significant step forward in powertrain electrification. The new two-door variants are also equipped with the top 195 kW (265 hp) 4-cylinder diesel engine (OM 654 M), which for the first time is equipped with an integrated starter motor alternator (ISG). For this reason, a 48 volt on-board electrical system was also used. The recuperation function and the ability to “swim” with the engine off make the unit even more economical.
The second generation ISG used here is now integrated into the transmission rather than the engine. This means that it is easier to combine with different engines. The immediately available additional power injection, known as EQ Boost, can deliver up to 15kW of power and 180Nm of torque.
48-volt technology, together with ISG, is also the prerogative of the 6-cylinder in-line petrol engine (M 256), available for the first time in the E-class, which is already known from the CLS, the S-class and GLE provide electric "injection" with up to 16 kW and 250 Nm, emphasizing the sporty character of the coupe and convertible. Their dynamics are further enhanced by the standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The systematic electrification of the drive is a key factor in the outstanding efficiency of the E-Class and is proof of the company's future-oriented strategy.
