Opel Mokka 2020

On September 22, Michael Lochsheller, CEO of Opel, presented the new Opel Mokka to the public. The presentation was organized at the company headquarters in Rüsselsheim. The new Opel Mokka is the brand's first model with a new face - the front panel of the Opel Vizor. A car designed to evoke emotion, heralds the future of the brand's style. Also new is a redesigned Opel Lightning Blitz badge, as well as the model name centered on the tailgate.

“With the new Mokka, we have almost rediscovered Opel. Here in Rüsselsheim we have designed and developed the vehicle from the ground up. The entire team has worked with unparalleled passion and unwavering commitment to lead Opel into a beautiful and exciting future. The new Mokka is available as a petrol, diesel or all-electric vehicle from the very beginning of the order – the choice is up to the customer.” says Opel CEO Michael Lochsheller.

Zero emission Mokka-e prices start at $139,900. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) (recommended retail price including VAT in Russia). The almost silent electric drive develops 100 kW (136 hp) and a maximum torque of 260 Nm, available from the moment you start driving. According to the WLTP1 cycle, a 50 kWh battery allows you to drive up to 324 kilometers on a single charge.

Mokka is the first model developed according to Opel's new design concept and equipped with Pure Panel.

The new Opel Mokka impresses with its perfect proportions and precision down to the smallest detail. Short overhangs and a wide track emphasize the bold and uncompromising character of the compact 4.15 meter five-seater. The front end is dominated by the unique front fascia of the Opel Vizor. It covers the face of the new Opel like a helmet visor, combining the front air intake, LED headlights and the redesigned Blitz badge into one single piece. The model name is placed in the center of the tailgate for the first time. The word "Mocha" is written in a special font, which, according to its creators, should be associated with technique, fluidity and dynamics.

Stylistic clarity also reigns in the interior. The new Pure Panel is a set of two displays that help you focus on what matters most. Unlike dashboards overloaded with data and switches, Pure Panel is remarkably easy to read. All messages are structured and immediately clear. Opel's designers attached great importance to digital detoxification. They made sure that the operation of the system was intuitive and did not distract the driver. The most important functions are still controlled by buttons, so you don't have to navigate through multi-level menus to get to them.

Electric drive or modern internal combustion engines

The new Mokka is the first ever Opel car to be available in both an all-electric version and with internal combustion engines from the very beginning thanks to the CMP multi-energy platform. The 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor immediately develops a maximum torque of 260 Nm. Drivers can choose between three driving modes - Normal, Eco and Sport. With a 50 kWh battery, the Opel Mokka-e can travel up to 324 kilometers (according to WLTP1) in all-electric mode. The new Mokka-e supports all 11 kW single-phase or three-phase charging options: using a wall charger, fast charging or a cable connected to a household outlet. The battery is backed by Opel's proprietary eight-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty.

Thanks to special solutions for electric vehicles in OpelConnect and the myOpel app, driving the new Opel Mokka-e has become even easier and more enjoyable. The right apps make it easy to use these features.

Powerful yet economical petrol and diesel engines ranging from 74 kW (100 hp) to 96 kW (130 hp). All powertrains enjoy moderate fuel consumption with excellent performance (NEDC fuel consumption, preliminary data2: 4.8-3.8 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 111-100 g/km).

The hallmarks of the new engines are high efficiency and dynamism. Internal friction and associated losses are kept to a minimum. The turbocharger also responds instantly, boosting low-end torque significantly. The engines are mated to a modern six-speed manual transmission or a smooth eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

In addition, the Rüsselsheim engineering team has made special efforts to significantly reduce the weight compared to the previous generation of the model by up to 120 kg, as well as to increase the rigidity of the body. The benefits are clear: the new Mokka consumes significantly less energy, is much more agile and dynamic, and is more fun to drive.

IntelliLux LED® matrix headlights and the best driver assistance systems

The new Mokka remains true to the Opel brand's tradition of spreading technology from higher segments to a wide range of users. Examples of such systems are Advanced Cruise Control (ACC) and Active Lane Keeping Positioning. The lighting also uses the latest technology, including adaptive and glare-free 14-element IntelliLux LED® matrix headlights, unique to this market segment. All Mokka variants come standard with an electric parking brake and traffic sign recognition. A 180-degree reversing camera, park assist, side protection, and blind spot warning are also available.

The new Mokka provides entertainment and connectivity for driver and passengers. The range includes Multimedia Radio and Multimedia Navi systems with a 7-inch color touch screen, as well as the flagship Multimedia Navi Pro system with a 10-inch high-resolution color touch screen. The monitors are integrated into the new Pure Panel cab and face the driver. The Driver Information Center display is 12 inches in size.

Perfect seat design is a hallmark of Opel. The buyer can order both sporty Alcantara and classic leather - an unusual choice for the Mokka segment. The top option is a heated leather driver's seat with a massage function. The driver and front passenger can place their smartphones on a special shelf in the center console, where compatible smartphones can be charged inductively (wirelessly).
