New versions of the 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc and T-Roc R models

Volkswagen continues the success story of the compact SUV with modern styling and innovative assistance systems, as well as access to numerous digital services. Thus, as part of the ACCELERATE strategy, Volkswagen is doing everything possible to become a provider of software-based mobility.

World premiere of the new Volkswagen T-Roc

The combination of attractive looks and sporty features, as well as solid workmanship and functionality, made the Volkswagen T-Roc a significant market success. Having no immediate predecessor, it immediately gained great popularity. Volkswagen has sold more than a million units of the compact SUV since its launch in late 2017. Since the end of 2019, the sporty T-Roc R belongs to the T-Roca family.

Rich interior and expressive appearance

A soft-touch plastic instrument panel and a new instrument cluster underline the modern character and high quality of the interior of the new T-Roc. The screen of the multimedia system, located in the center of the panel, resembles a tablet and is located at the height of the Digital Cockpit screen, which is very ergonomic and comfortable for the driver. The new screens of the T-Roca multimedia system, located in the center of the dashboard, range in size from 6.5 to 9.2 inches, depending on the vehicle equipment version. The compact SUV is equipped as standard with a color instrument panel, which is available (optionally) in the Digital Cockpit Pro version with screen sizes up to 10.25 inches. Intuitive control of on-board functions is possible thanks to the new shape of the steering wheel, which on all versions of the T-Roca is equipped with multifunction buttons.

Pleasant and soft-touch door trim is now included as standard. They are made of an elegant material, and in the Style and R-Line versions, they are made of artificial leather, which also covers the armrests. Another element of the Style package is the ArtVelours trim on the center section of the comfortable seats. Sport seats for driver and front passenger in Nappa leather are available as an option on the R variant.

The sharp lines of the new T-Roc make its design even more dynamic. LED headlights and stylish tinted dome lights at the rear of the new T-Roc are now standard. The optional IQ.Light LED matrix headlights feature updated graphics and dynamic lighting features such as turn indicators, where the LEDs light up in sequence for an original effect. An element that proves the class of the modified SUV is a light strip integrated into the radiator grille. The new T-Roc stands out not only with its expressive body shape, but also with new paint colors and a new design of alloy wheels ranging in size from 16 to 19 inches.

A new level of digitalization and connectivity

Numerous state-of-the-art assistance systems, previously only available on higher-end models, are standard on the new T-Roc. Front Assist and Lane Assist are still standard, and now also new IQ.Drive Travel Assist and Active Cruise Control. When driving at speeds up to 210 km/h, it can automatically steer, brake and accelerate. Using the front camera image, GPS data and navigation maps, the system reacts in advance to local speed limits and takes into account settlements, junctions and roundabouts.

The new T-Roc uses a multimedia system built on the Third Generation Modular Platform (MIB3). It provides access to numerous online features and services. By default, you can use the We Connect Plus service for free for one year in Europe. Features such as online voice command system, streaming services are available. You can also use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as wirelessly via App Connect Wireless.

Choice of TSI and TDI engines, optional 7-speed DSG transmission and 4MOTION drive

The new T-Roca can be chosen with one of three petrol or single diesel engines, and depending on the transmission type, these are paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and drive the front wheels. Fuel-efficient direct injection petrol engines include a three-cylinder 1.0 TSI with 81 kW (110 hp), two four-cylinder 1.5 TSI engines with 110 kW (150 hp) and a 2.0 TSI with 140 kW (190 hp) . The range is completed by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TDI diesel engine with 110 kW (150 hp). The most powerful model in the offer is the T-Roc R with a 221 kW (300 hp) engine. 4MOTION all-wheel drive is standard on the T-Roc with a 140 kW (190 hp) 2.0 TSI engine and the T-Roc R.

Available in a basic version and three with a new hardware setup.

Thanks to the new T-Roc configuration, you can now choose according to individual preferences. The compact SUV is available in Europe in a base version called the T-Roc, as well as Life, Style and R-Line versions with a new equipment setup. The dynamic character of the new T-Roc is especially emphasized by the R-Line package. The front and rear elements are styled differently from the top-of-the-line T-Roca R. The new T-Roc R-Line also features a sport package with selectable drive modes, progressive steering and sport suspension. For the Style and R-Line finishes, the Black Style design package is available with numerous black lacquered details.

New T-Roc R: powerful and versatile

With a 221 kW (300 hp) four-cylinder engine, the new T-Roc R is the most dynamic model in the compact SUV family. The R-specific sport suspension and R-specific progressive steering make the T-Roc R extremely agile through corners thanks to standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive, even on rough terrain. In addition to the R-specific exterior and interior design, the T-Roc R features a signature exhaust sound and sporty performance. The new leather sports steering wheel is equipped with multi-function buttons, including the brand's unique R button.
