The new BMW iX M60 is the best of three worlds: i, X and M

The first BMW M car, designed from the ground up with e-mobility in mind, is at the start of its journey. The BMW Group presents a third, even more powerful variant of its technological flagship: the BMW iX M60. 455 kW (619 hp)**, maximum torque of 1,015 Nm* in sport mode and 1,100 Nm* with Launch Control activated, as well as the special M suspension setting, ensure perfect driving without local emissions.

The BMW iX M60 combines a consistently sustainable concept with the looks of a modern sports car and impressive driving dynamics. It thus offers the best of three worlds: BMW i, BMW X and BMW M GmbH. With its technical solutions, which also cover areas such as driving automation, operation and communication, the new BMW iX M60 represents a new understanding of cutting-edge luxury, high performance and premium character.

Start signal for electromobility in the style of the BMW M brand

The BMW iX M60 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds*. The incredible power of the M-specific electric drive is felt right up to the high load range, providing an almost constant increase in speed up to an electronically limited maximum of 250 km/h. The BMW iX M60 has a WLTP range of up to 566 km*.

The debut of the BMW iX M60 marks a milestone in the history of BMW M GmbH, which began 50 years ago. Together with the BMW i4 M50 (combined energy consumption: 22.5–18.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km), it marks the entry of the BMW M brand into the era of electromobility. The extreme power and precise control of the electric all-wheel drive, combined with the fast response of the near-drive traction control and chassis technology, including the auto-levelling M two-axle air suspension, deliver the dynamics, agility and precision that have always distinguished BMW M vehicles from driving.

The BMW iX M60 will be built alongside other electric sports car (SAV) variants at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing. The world premiere of the car will take place at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 in Las Vegas. Sales in markets around the world will start in June 2022.

Balanced car concept, outstanding sporty character

The BMW iX concept provides the ideal foundation for an all-electric high-performance SAV. Both the body structure and chassis design and tuning are designed to combine excellent driving comfort with sporty handling characteristics. The concept of an aluminum space frame and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) frame, including roof, sides and rear, is a smart combination of materials combining increased rigidity with optimal weight. The use of carbon fiber (CFRP) for weight reduction has a long tradition at BMW M GmbH. Already in the BMW M3 CSL, launched on the market in 2003, the use of this particularly lightweight modern material made it possible to achieve a very favorable ratio between engine power and vehicle weight. Thus, BMW M GmbH became a pioneer in the use of CFRP in series production of vehicles. In many current BMW M GmbH sports cars, the standard carbon roof and other carbon fiber components are part of an intelligent lightweight design.

Performance, efficiency and range are also affected by optimized aerodynamics, thanks to which the BMW iX M60 achieves a drag coefficient (Cx) of 0.26 in sport mode. The high-voltage battery, located low in the floor, lowers the vehicle's center of gravity and contributes to agility and balanced weight distribution across the axles. Thus, the performance of the BMW iX M60 is not only characterized by breathtaking acceleration, but also by exceptional cornering dynamics and consistently precise handling even in very dynamic situations. Perfectly balanced driving characteristics make the BMW iX M60 a stable and comfortable ride at any speed. It also provides the driver with the usual BMW M feedback when driving at the limit.

The BMW iX M60 combines typical M performance with the unique cutting-edge technologies of the BMW Group's new forward-looking modular system in the areas of driving automation, operation, connectivity and digital services. This creates premium mobility that is unique in the market. This is also due to the completely new internal architecture, which gives a feeling of exceptional spaciousness.

The BMW iX M60, like its other variants, boasts the widest range of standard driver assistance systems ever available in a BMW, as well as numerous innovations. New generation sensors, new software and a powerful computing platform also offer unique opportunities for the progressive development of driving and parking automation - up to level 3 in the medium term.

The next-generation iDrive display and control system transforms driver-vehicle interaction into a natural dialogue. This solution is based on the new BMW 8 operating system and has been developed with a clear focus on touch control of BMW's new curved display and voice communication with BMW's extensive Intelligent Personal Assistant. Remote software updates offer the ability to wirelessly install new and improved vehicle features. Cloud-based navigation from BMW Maps and augmented reality video on the Control Display ensure fast and accurate route planning and excellent navigation in traffic. The BMW iX is also a pioneer in 5G mobile data and the integration of a personal phone account in the car via Personal eSIM.

Clear design, new sense of space, exceptionally extensive standard equipment

The sporty proportions of the modern SAV, minimalist sculpted surfaces and clear details characterize the expressive exterior design that gives the BMW iX M60 a powerful look. The brake calipers of the sports brake system painted in Blue with M logo, the BMW Individual exterior elements in Titanium Bronze and the M logo in new high-gloss Black and Titanium Bronze on the front fenders and rear clearly demonstrate performance. the character of the BMW iX M60. Optionally available are 22-inch aerodynamic wheels with an exclusive titanium bronze design.

The spacious, refined and innovative interior promotes a focus on active driving as well as travel comfort and the joy of modern luxury. Multifunctional seats with integrated head restraints, the large curved BMW display, the hexagonal steering wheel and the anthracite headlining enhance driving pleasure. The elimination of the center tunnel created additional legroom, as well as room for storage compartments and a center console designed in the style of a high-end piece of furniture. The optional Interior Design Suite includes genuine leather seats, instrument panel, center console and door panels, as well as gold-bronze accent surfaces and controls. Regardless of the display layout and the selected My Mode, the M logo is displayed on the left side of the information display.

The exclusive character of the BMW iX M60 is further emphasized by the particularly wide range of standard equipment. It includes, among other things, BMW Live Cockpit Professional and natural BMW interaction with voice and gesture control, Bowers & Wilkins' Diamond Surround audio system, BMW laser lights, Comfort Access, active seat ventilation for driver and front passenger, and the Comfort heating package.

A holistic concept of sustainable development: controlled extraction of raw materials, production using only green electricity, a high proportion of natural and recycled materials.

The future-oriented BMW i premium mobility concept is characterized by the responsible use of resources along the entire value chain and by minimizing the carbon footprint throughout the entire product lifecycle. This holistic approach is consistently implemented at the design stage, throughout the supply chain and during production of the BMW iX M60. The BMW i brand stands for environmental and social sustainability.

The cobalt and lithium needed for the production of high-voltage batteries are obtained by the BMW Group from controlled sources in Australia and Morocco and then supplied to battery cell manufacturers. The design of the electric motors makes it possible to refuse the use of rare earth metals in the rotors. The BMW Group purchases aluminum produced using electricity from photovoltaic systems.

100% green electricity is used both for the production of vehicles and for the production of battery cells. The extensive use of recycled aluminum and recycled plastics also contributes to the resource-saving production of the BMW iX M60. Inside, FSC-certified wood, leather tanned with olive leaf extract, and other natural materials are used. The floor coverings and rugs are made from salvaged fishing nets.
