The new KONA Electric is already available in Hyundai showrooms.
Hyundai has announced the release of a new model KONA Electric. The new environmentally friendly SUV is now available with two electric drives.
New KONA Electric
The basic version is equipped with a 39.2 kWh battery and a 136 hp engine. (100 kW), thanks to which it accelerates to 100 km / h in 9.9 seconds. The 64 kWh battery version is equipped with an electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 204 hp. (150 kW) and allows KONA Electric to accelerate to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds. The top version has a top speed of 167 km/h, while the base version has a top speed of 155 km/h. Both power plants develop a torque of 395 Nm, available at any time.
Since its debut in 2018, KONA Electric has been offering one of the best electric ranges in its class. The 64 kWh version offers a class-leading range of 484 km (WLTP) per charge and an energy consumption of 14.7 kWh/100 km (WLTP). Meanwhile, the 39.2 kWh model offers a range of up to 305 kilometers (WLTP) with an energy consumption of 14.3 kWh/100 km (WLTP). Charging a lithium-ion polymer battery from 10 percent to 80 percent with a 100kW DC fast charger takes just 47 minutes.
Buyers of the new KONA Electric model, in addition to the choice of drive, can also choose from three trim levels - Style, Premium and Platinum. Even the basic Style version offers extensive safety, comfort, multimedia and connectivity equipment, plus stylish touches. Style version with 136 hp base drive. costs $155,900 (4 c.u. = 1 USD), and the top version with a 204 hp electric motor. - 174 900 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD).
Standard safety equipment includes Forward Collision Avoidance System (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Keeping Assist (LFA), Rear Seat Monitor (RSA), Tire Pressure Monitoring (TMPS), eCall and front systems, side and curtain airbags, ISOFIX rear seat mounts and an electric parking brake with Auto Hold. The comfort of passengers and drivers is ensured by equipment such as automatic air conditioning, keyless entry, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, cruise control, a two-way adjustable multifunction steering wheel or a driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support.
For the first time, the new KONA Electric features a digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch display, while the multimedia screen uses an 8-inch touchscreen. The 6-speaker infotainment system with DAB digital radio provides wireless connectivity to Apple Car Play and Android Auto, as well as Bluetooth technology. Stylish details complete the look, including 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, body-coloured metal pedals and side moldings for a more urban feel.
A richer Premium version costs $165,900. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) when choosing a base engine and 183,900 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) when choosing a more powerful drive. The Premium version also includes heated front seats, heated steering wheel, electrochromic rearview mirror, rain sensor, tinted rear windows, LED headlights and taillights, as well as a 10.25-inch infotainment system, factory navigation, Bluelink and Premium connectivity. The platinum version is only available with a more powerful drive and costs $201,900. (4 c.u. = 1 USD). Top-of-the-line safety equipment includes Blind Spot Monitor (BCA), Cross Traffic Alert Assist (RCCA) with Pedestrian and Cyclist Alert (FCA), Highway Driving (HDA) and Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW), as well as Intelligent Cruise control. with Stop & Go (SCC) function. The highest level of comfort is provided by power front seats, heated rear seats, head-up display (HUD), decorative lighting, wireless charger for smartphones. In addition, the Platinum version offers electric folding mirrors and front parking sensors, a heat pump and an 11 kW three-phase on-board charger, reducing charging time by more than 2 hours.
For the Platinum version, you can purchase a leather package that includes black or light beige leather upholstery and ventilated seats for $6,000. (4 c.u. = 1 USD). The new KONA Electric is also available as an option with contrast roofs in Chalk White and Phantom Black. New polishes have appeared in the color scheme - Dive in Jeju, Silky Bronze, Shimmering Silver, Teal. In addition, you can choose from Galactic Grey, Dark Knight, Sunset Red, Engine Red, Phantom Black and Chalk White.
Since its launch, demand for the Hyundai KONA Electric in Europe has exceeded expectations. This was made possible thanks to the combination of economical electric drive, long range and stylish appearance of an SUV. In just two years, more than 120,000 of its predecessors were sold worldwide, more than 50,000 of them in Europe alone. In 2020, KONA Electric became the best-selling electric SUV model. Meanwhile, in Russia, it was one of the most frequently selected electric vehicles, as well as a leader in its segment, reaching more than 200 customers last year.
In March 2020, Hyundai began manufacturing the KONA Electric at its Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) plant. This allowed customers to significantly reduce the waiting time for new electric vehicles.
