Volkswagen will expand its range of sporty versions of the eighth generation Golf - after the premiere of the GTI, GTE and GTD variants, it is time for the premiere of the top model: the new Golf R. The two-liter engine of the most powerful Golf produces a maximum power of 235 kW (320 hp) and a maximum torque of 420 Nm, which is transmitted as standard to all four wheels.
Volkswagen Golf R
The new Golf R, based on the eighth generation model, is already the fifth edition of the top version of the most popular Volkswagen in history. The 320-horsepower Golf R takes only 4.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. As standard, the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
The new Golf R is equipped as standard with an all-wheel drive system developed specifically for this model, known as 4MOTION with R-Performance Torque Vectoring, with variable torque distribution between the wheels of the rear axle. This greatly enhances the Golf R's agility. For the first time, through the Vehicle Dynamics Manager (VDM) system, all-wheel drive is also networked with other systems such as electronic differential lock (XDS) and damping control damping characteristics (DCC). The new Golf R, thanks to the integration of various systems, offers excellent traction, neutral driving behavior as well as excellent steering precision and high agility. Thanks to this, driving pleasure is at the highest level.
The final chassis tuning of the new Golf R took place on the Nürburgring's legendary Nordschleife. As a result, the new Golf R, fitted as standard with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, is 17 seconds faster on the 21-kilometre Nürburgring Nordschleife than its predecessor.
The offer of the new Golf R will be announced soon.
