Innovative and efficient plug-in hybrid system

Plug-in hybrid system

The advanced ACROSS plug-in hybrid system delivers fuel efficiency and performance with CO₂ emissions as low as 22 g/km*2.

The plug-in hybrid system consists of a powerful electric motor that drives the front axle. The engine guarantees high torque at low revs, and in conjunction with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine provides dynamic acceleration at medium and high revs. The electric motor has a maximum output of 134 kW and a maximum torque of 270 Nm, powered by a 18.1 kWh (50.9 Ah) lithium-ion battery located under the floor.

The electric motor is connected to an A25A-FXS Dynamic Force combustion unit, which is used to charge the battery and also keeps the electric motor moving at high speeds if needed. The gasoline engine has a long stroke and high compression ratio, as well as direct fuel injection (DI) and intake manifold fuel injection (PFI), which, depending on driving conditions, increase power and combustion efficiency while reducing emissions.

The plug-in hybrid system offers four modes of operation: default EV mode, automatic EV/HV mode, HV mode, and battery charging mode. The driver can select the appropriate setting depending on driving conditions and battery level. In EV mode, the vehicle is driven solely by the electric motor, even at full acceleration. In Auto EV/HV and HV modes, the internal combustion engine is used to provide enough power when the accelerator pedal is depressed harder. In the event of a low battery level, you can use the latter mode to store as much electricity as possible while driving.

Advanced 4×4 features

The modern, technologically advanced 4x4 E-Four drive provides excellent off-road performance while maintaining low fuel consumption. The solution uses an independent 40 kW electric motor mounted on the rear axle. The motor interacts with the front axle drive motor and, depending on driving conditions, provides torque transmission in the range from 100:00 to 20:80. The advanced 4×4 drive provides strong traction when starting from a standstill on wet or slippery surfaces, as well as confident cornering on roads with variable grip.

AWD Integrated Drive Control (AIM)

At the heart of the E-Four system is an advanced All Wheel Drive Integrated Management (AIM) system that controls traction distribution, engine throttle position, shift scheduling, power steering and braking based on driving conditions.

Mode

The automatic limited-slip differential provides the best traction and confidence when driving on asphalt or off-road. The system brakes the respective wheels when they begin to lose traction and redirects torque to the wheels to improve traction. In addition, the system controls the operation of the throttle and gearbox, providing the driver with a feeling of good wheel contact with the road.

Advanced technology and intelligent security systems

Equipped with the latest intelligent safety features, ACROSS offers confident driving and peace of mind on every journey. The wide range of safety systems includes solutions using millimeter-wave radar and monoscopic cameras: Collision Avoidance System (PCS), Lane Keeping Assist (LTA) and Adaptive Cruise Control (DRCC).

PCS (Pre-Collision System)

PCS helps prevent collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists by monitoring the road with millimetric radar and a monoscope camera. When danger is detected, it automatically applies the emergency brake assist and automatic braking if the driver does not respond to the warning.

LTA (Lane Tracking Assistant)

When driving on public roads or expressways, the LTA system detects that the vehicle is leaving its lane, the system automatically guides the driver back to the correct path by activating the electric power steering.

RSA (Road Sign Assist)

The RSA system uses a camera to detect road signs and then displays information about the current limit on the screen.

DRCC (Dynamic Radar Cruise Control - adaptive cruise control)

DRCC works across the entire speed range and automatically maintains the distance to the vehicle in front. If the vehicle in front stops, cruise control can stop it and start moving again.

BSM (blind spot monitor)

BSM uses sensors to detect other vehicles approaching from behind and alerts the driver when they are in the blind spot of the side mirrors.

RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert)

RCTA helps the driver to avoid collisions when leaving a parking lot with limited visibility. When the sensors detect a vehicle, the driver is alerted by an audible signal and a message on the on-board computer display.

electronic call

If the vehicle is involved in a traffic accident, the eCall system automatically informs the emergency services of the accident with a telephone message indicating the exact location of the vehicle.

Automatic brake

During a temporary stop, such as at an intersection or traffic light, the electric parking brake stops the vehicle by maintaining brake pressure to prevent the vehicle from rolling forward or backward until the driver depresses the accelerator pedal.
