Volvo announces pricing for electric XC40 Recharge P8
In a few months, the first electric XC40 Recharge will appear in Russian car dealerships. To start, Volvo offered customers the most powerful and most equipped version of the P8 with 408 hp. and a 78 kWh battery. What is included in the basic package? What are the technical data? And how is it different from other Volvo models and other electrics on the market? Let's try to answer.
Volvo XC40 Recharge P8, the first top version
It's already a tradition. Volvo begins its dialogue with the market with the release of the most expensive and most equipped version. Later, the offer expanded to versions with less power and price, as well as more modest equipment. This time around, Volvo's first electric model received a base price of $268,150. (4 c.u. = 1 USD). The car can hardly be called modest. At this price, we get an electric car dressed in the clothes of a small SUV. While the details differ from previous XC40 models, this car's performance is simply atomic. The dry acceleration time parameter from 0 to 100 km / h looks good and is: 4.9 seconds. However, this car's flexibility while driving means that much more powerful cars will be left behind. Two engines with a total power of 408 hp and a torque of 660 Nm catapult the car without delay, immediately after pressing the gas. The curb weight of 2188 kg does not bother them at all.
What does baseline mean?
Volvo XC40 Recharge P8 is almost complete. Already in the series we will get a rich package of safety systems with adaptive cruise control, blind spot sensors, City Safety package, belt maintenance and much more. There's also a rearview camera and parking sensors front and rear. Automatic dual zone air conditioning and 19-inch alloy wheels are also included. Also provided free of charge is the Android Automotive OS on-board system, which has Google navigation, Google Assistant with voice control in Polish, and the Google Store. The car is a mobile device, has its own SIM card and data transfer package in the EU, Switzerland and Norway for a period of 4 years. The Volvo On Call package is exactly the same. Black Stone lacquer is available at no extra charge.
What can you buy?
The basic advanced package costs $17,700. (4 c.u. = 1 USD). Includes panoramic glass sunroof, power seats, LED headlights, Harman Kardon audio system and 360-degree camera. For 1720 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) you can order tinted windows, and for 6000 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) - upholstery made of eco-leather or fabric / vinyl and nappa leather. All Volvo electric cars have forever abandoned animal skins. 2920 c.u. (4 CU = 1 USD) are larger 20-inch discs. Metallic paint? 3160 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD). Or maybe an exclusive lacquer? $5930 (4 c.u. = 1 USD). If we order a hook for 4110 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD) and order an additional charging cable (1340 c.u. (4 c.u. = 1 USD)), we will finish the setup with the conviction that we can’t order anything else, and we have complete copy.
A little about electricity
It was a little easier with fuel consumption. With consumption, the parameters of the car need to be explained a little longer. The car battery has a capacity of 78 kWh. The declared range is 418 km or 516 km (WLTP City). If we repeatedly enjoy strong acceleration, we will certainly reduce it significantly. XC40 Recharge supports 150 kW chargers. I'm talking about DC charging. The maximum AC charging power is 11 kW. On the most powerful DC charger, it takes less than 40 minutes to charge the battery from 0 to 80%. A heat pump (standard equipment) and the use of slightly narrower tires at the front than at the rear help smart energy management on board. Batteries are ideally placed between the axles of the car, under the floor. Although they increase the weight of the car by 500 kg, you don’t feel much difference when driving. The XC40 is stable, and its suspension characteristics are geared towards comfort.
multimedia system
Google announces that it wants to be the dominant operating system in the passenger car industry by 2030. Cooperation with the American giant has already been confirmed by several major automotive concerns. But Volvo Cars and Polestar were first. Along with the new system, customers will receive a package of updated displays: a central touch screen and a TFT driver's clock. Now Google maps will also display beautifully on the watch. After setting the destination in navigation, we will also see the expected battery level after reaching the destination. Google will keep you updated on traffic and optimize your route in terms of charges, tolls, etc. Commands will be given in Polish. Ba! The system will understand them even if we pronounce them in some way. Many modern systems are not standard and need to be spoken about with specific passwords such as Ali Baba to Sesame. Ultimately, the system will go to all other models of the brand, starting with the XC60, S90 and V90. These cars will have an electronic facelift this year. Does the system work with Apple CarPlay? Of course it works.
Final Accents
The trunk of the electric version of the XC40 is roomy, because the battery does not leave it. At the design stage, the SMA floorboard was laid between the axes, under the floor. Ultimately, this model will get Recharge all-round tires with rolling class A. Today, Cross Climate tires are class B. Summer and winter tires will be available as an option. At the front of the car, under the hood, there is a small, waterproof compartment ideal for storing the charging cable. And the car itself can be bought online at a fixed price. At the same time, the customer himself determines which dealer he wants to select. Volvo is committed to producing and servicing premium vehicles through its dealer network. The car's ground clearance of 21 cm, wading capability (40 cm) and tow hook are also interesting features. Can carry bicycles or tow a trailer weighing up to 1500 kg. Few electricians can do this.
Volvo Cars reports that the offer of electricians has just begun. By the end of the year, new electric versions of our vehicles will be available. By 2025, BEVs should make up half of our supply, and from 2030, all of them. The new XC40 P8 Recharge shows that electric vehicles can be a truly exciting prospect.
