CUPRA Tavascan - the icon of a new era

CUPRA presents the brand's first all-electric SUV coupe and second zero-emissions model after the compact Born, which perfectly combines electrification and efficiency.

The CUPRA Tavascan is a new zero-emission model based directly on the concept car of the same name that was unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Four years ago it was called "a dream" because it brought to the market an innovative and unique vision of the all-electric future of the Spanish brand. Today, the production version is the stylistic and technological forerunner of the following models from the manufacturer from Martorel.

The SUV from CUPRA is a new sophisticated design language of the brand, which is emphasized by a sporty body line. A distinctive feature of the new model are the new LED lights, located at the front, consisting of three triangles.

The dynamic and muscular lines of the Tavascana's exterior have been carried over into the interior, which strikes the perfect balance between driver orientation and passenger comfort.

Tavascan is also an introduction to creating vehicles for a new generation of drivers that evoke positive emotions, break stereotypes and provide amazing experiences for car enthusiasts.

For this purpose - based on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform “CUPRA Tavascan combines the latest technology, from powertrain to chassis, connectivity, safety and comfort.

Automatic measures Length 4644 mm, width 1861 mm, height 1597 mm. and the wheelbase is 2766 mm. Its dimensions strike a balance between the need for better driving performance and the demands of everyday use.

The powertrain of the new model is tuned to interact with the driver and provides a unique driving experience. Positive emotions behind the wheel are provided by the adaptive DCC Sport suspension and progressive power steering. In addition, additional tires mounted on 21-inch forged aluminum wheels provide a sporty driving style.

CUPRA Tavascan drive

Tavascan will be available in two power options: 210 kW (286 hp) and 250 kW (340 hp). A more powerful variant will be offered with all-wheel drive, which will provide better traction in all road conditions and even more confident handling.

The ability to transfer torque between all four wheels increases not only handling and confidence, but also acceleration time. From a standstill, the CUPRA Tavascan VZ can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 2.4 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds).

The Spanish SUV is equipped with a 77 kWh usable traction battery that it provides approximately 550 km (WLTP) range. The all-wheel drive version of the CUPRA Tavascan VZ is expected to cover about 517 km. The model's long range is also due to efficient energy recovery and the optional heat pump, which work more efficiently than a classic heating system.

It should be emphasized that the second all-electric car in the Spanish brand's range can gain an additional 100 km of mileage in just 7 minutes thanks to fast charging (DC). And when the energy in the traction battery drops to just 10%, it can be topped up to 80% in less than half an hourusing a charging point with a capacity of at least 135 kW.

Technologies used in the Tavascan model

The car is equipped 15" multimedia system - the largest to date in all models of the brand. Thanks to user-friendly and easy-to-use software, the voice or touch display can be adapted to the individual needs of the driver. The onboard electronics also integrates with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and offers Wireless Full Link.

CUPRA Tavascan is also distinguished by the fact that for the first time in this model the brand offered high quality sound system with 12 speakers developed in collaboration with an audio company Sennheiser - a specialist in the field of Hi-Fi equipment. Thus, Tavascan is the first model of the brand to be equipped with a high-quality sound system that will satisfy the musical experience of the most demanding customers.

Safe and convenient CUPRA Tavascan

CUPRA Tavascan is also a safe vehicle for everyday use, which, thanks to driving assistants, provides peace of mind and minimizes the consequences of traffic accidents. The suite of advanced on-board driving assistance technologies includes, but is not limited to:

• predictive cruise control (ACC) with speed adaptation to road signs and navigation data,
• traffic sign recognition system,
• Side Assist blind spot monitoring system with Exit Assist function,
• Lane Assist with lane change assistant when the turn signal is turned on,
• driver fatigue detection system and rear view camera.

Tavascan also has an active safety feature, ie. Front Assist with emergency braking and protection for pedestrians and cyclists.

New version of Connected Travel Assist in the model, Tavascan improves system performance with data from the cloud – especially on poorly marked roads. The new Spanish SUV is also equipped with a smartphone-assisted remote parking system and the CUPRA Tavascan Parking feature, which allows autonomous parking up to 50 meters away from a pre-stored parking space.

Tavascan is an important step towards brand electrification. The Spanish SUV joins the CUPRA Born and six plug-in hybrid variants including the CUPRA Leon, CUPRA Leon Sportstourer and CUPRA Formentor. The new model will hit the streets in 2024. It will be joined the same year by the CUPRA Terramar and a year later by the CUPRA UrbanRebel, an electric city car.

Designed and engineered in Barcelona, the CUPRA Tavascan will be built at the Volkswagen Group's Anhui, China plant, a state-of-the-art global electric vehicle innovation hub.
