World premiere of the all-new MG3

The new MG3 is an innovative B-segment hybrid hatchback that combines efficiency, economy and elegance. Previously only offered in the UK, the MG3 will be available to customers across Europe for the first time.

The new MG3 2024 is available in three variants.

There will be three variants on the market at launch, each equipped with the new Hybrid+ powertrain. It uses a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor - a completely new standard in the B segment.

The B-segment hatchback offers more space than the previous model, while retaining the compact dimensions responsible for the MG3's popularity in the UK, especially among people who mainly drive urban routes. Interior equipment is at the highest level available in its class, and the MG3 Hybrid+ offers customers both practicality and economy. All this is complemented by the benefit of the standard seven-year/150,000km warranty that MG is famous for.

Modern Hybrid+ drive system.

MG Hybrid+ powertrain technology debuts on the new generation MG3 and is the first traditional hybrid system in the MG range. It consists of five key elements - engine, gearbox, battery, electric motor and generator.

Despite the emphasis on efficiency, electrified technology naturally guarantees excellent performance. Thanks to the MG Hybrid+ powertrain, the MG3 is the fastest acceleration model among hybrid models in its class, reaching 0 to 100 km/h in eight seconds. Acceleration to highway speeds from 80 to 120 km/h is equally impressive and takes just five seconds.

With a total output of 143 kW, the MG3 Hybrid+ achieves impressive economic results, offering fuel consumption of 4.4 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 100 g/km. This is largely due to the 1.83 kWh battery, which provides a significant range on pure electric power, greatly improving efficiency.

MG3 was equipped 1.5 liter petrol engine with 75 kW power and an electric motor with 100 kW power., as well as a separate motor-generator, allowing for a large selection of operating modes of the drive system. Thanks to this, the car not only provides the best performance in the B-segment of hybrid hatchbacks, but also guarantees operational flexibility in various driving conditions.

The MG3 offers the following modes, each of which is automatically selected by the Hybrid+ system:

• EV – driving exclusively on electric power as long as the battery charge allows;
• Private – the engine is supplied to a generator, which powers the electric motor for movement;
• Series and charge – serial driving and charging the battery at low load;
• Riding and charging – the engine drives the wheels while simultaneously charging the battery through the generator;
• Parallel – Both the internal combustion engine and the electric motor drive the wheels.

The 1.5 liter Atkinson cycle petrol engine produces 75 kW (102 hp). and provides the exceptionally high thermal efficiency of the 41%. Combined with a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor, the Hybrid+ system provides a wide range of power across the entire rev range. With a more powerful engine installed, most heavy-duty driving (such as acceleration) can be handled electrically, while the gasoline engine smoothly supports or takes over the task at higher speeds.

The engine is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission for an efficient and enjoyable driving experience. Most importantly, the MG3 delivers quick acceleration while delivering smooth, seamless gear changes.

The driver can tailor the MG3's response to their needs by selecting one of three driving modes: Eco, Standard or Sport. Eco Mode has been calibrated for optimal fuel efficiency and provides drivers with smooth throttle response. However, the Standard, which combines economy and performance, is well suited for most types of travel. Sport mode provides more sensitive calibration, extracts the maximum from the combined power output and delivers some of the highest performance figures in the B-segment hybrid hatchback class.

Dynamic driving and refinement

The new MG3 offers a ride that is both dynamic and comfortable, thanks to the collaboration of MG Motor engineers from Europe and China, who tuned the chassis and suspension to suit the expectations of different markets.

With its compact proportions and dynamic design, the MG3 delivers a refined driving experience while remaining true to the MG brand's sporting ethos of driving pleasure. The use of new ultra-high rigidity components in the chassis and lightweight suspension ensures both a dynamic ride and a comfortable ride.

In addition, thanks to a balanced combination of comfort and dynamics, as well as a new hybrid drive that allows short periods of electric driving, the new MG3 also offers exceptional build quality and reduced noise levels. Engineers focused on engine and suspension mounts, sound-absorbing materials and transmission design to minimize noise, vibration and harshness to provide an exceptional driving experience.

Unique technologies and unique equipment

The new MG3 is available to customers in Europe in three trim levels, each designed to compete with other B-segment models in terms of technology and standard features offered. A unique benefit for customers is the dual display cockpit. Drivers have access to a 7-inch digital clock screen and a 10.25-inch central infotainment display. The graphics and responsiveness have been enhanced by MG Motor's engineers on the dual floating screens, while a row of horizontal keys has been retained on the center console to ensure maximum safety and comfort while driving.

Satellite navigation is standard, as is smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. MG iSMART provides customers with the level of connectivity and MG3 features they typically associate with premium models.

Other important equipment includes air conditioning, an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, four USB ports and sensors, and a rearview camera. Higher trims add synthetic leather upholstery, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a 360-degree camera.

The MG3 also features the latest advanced driver assistance systems. Enhanced safety is provided by MG Pilot technology, which includes lane keep assist with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and traffic jam warning.

Updated and modern look

Redesigned from the ground up, the new MG3 is longer and wider than its predecessor, providing more passenger space and offering the largest luggage compartment in its class among B-segment hybrid hatchbacks.

Developed by MG Motor's Shanghai studio, the new MG3 offers a range of styling cues from which customers can choose, including aluminum wheels, LED headlights and a new color palette.

Seven different color palettes are available for European buyers: York White, St Moritz Blue, Flamingo Red, Morning Yellow, Pearl Black, Blade Silver and Hampstead Grey.
