New Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet – open-air driving pleasure

With the new CLE Convertible, Mercedes-Benz continues its long tradition of creating open-top four-seater dream cars. Expressive design, intelligent technology and exclusive equipment guarantee exciting driving pleasure.

The car is based on the sporty CLE Coupe, but the classic soft cloth top and additional high-quality details give it its own character. The CLE Cabriolet combines dynamic driving performance with a high level of everyday comfort, delivering the joy of outdoor driving all year round. It can now be ordered at Mercedes-Benz showrooms in Russia at a price starting from 289,800 USD. (4 cu = 1 USD) for a CLE 200 convertible with a power of 204 + 23 hp. Entry into the European market will begin at the end of April 2024.

The pleasure of riding in nature at any time of the year

The new CLE Convertible's standard equipment includes the AIRCAP® electric wind protection system and the AIRSCARF® neck warmer. Both solutions have been improved for the new model. They make driving with the roof open at low outside temperatures more pleasant. AIRCAP® consists of two elements. A deflector above the windshield directs air flow over the passengers' heads and expands at the touch of a button. An automatic deflector located behind the rear headrests effectively reduces air turbulence in the cabin. AIRSCARF®, in turn, creates a flow of warm air around the necks of front seat passengers.

A standard fabric roof with sound insulation also ensures that the CLE Convertible is suitable for everyday year-round use. The case is available in black, red or gray. The multi-layer construction with extensive insulation is the basis for the best thermal comfort in all seasons. This also reduces wind and rolling noise. The soft top opens and closes in 20 seconds, both when stationary and while driving at speeds of up to 60 km/h. For the first time, it runs entirely on electricity, making it even quieter when folding and unfolding. A standard electric partition automatically separates the folded soft top from the rest of the trunk.

Sporty luxury is in a class of its own

The attractive interior includes a free-standing 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a central 11.9-inch driver-facing vertical format screen. The latter can be electrically tilted from 15 to 40 degrees to avoid distracting reflections when the soft top is lowered. Another feature is the optional dynamic ambient lighting. Light strips extend from the cabin through the doors and rear quarter panels to the rear seats. This stylish impression is underscored by two further details: the upper section of the instrument panel, door panels and roof rack are covered in black synthetic nappa leather. All this is complemented by a chrome strip surrounding the entire passenger compartment.

To prevent excessive heat, the optional leather seats have a special coating that reflects the sun's rays in the near-infrared range. As a result, when exposed to direct sunlight, the leather stays 12 degrees cooler than standard untreated leather. The interior heats up less even with the roof closed. Available in sun reflective leather and nappa leather colors: black, beige macchiato/black, tonka brown/black, red/black and white/black. The standard AVANTGARDE line includes ARTICO synthetic leather combined with black MICROCUT microfiber.

The front sports seats, developed specifically for the CLE, have an integrated design. In combination with the optional Burmester® 3D surround sound system, each is equipped with two loudspeakers located at the height of the headrests. Thanks to Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio technologies, a particularly personalized, immersive music experience is created. This premium audio system consists of 17 speakers.

Spacious salon

The largest convertible in the midsize segment, the CLE Cabriolet offers a high level of long-distance comfort for four people. Its dimensions are: length 4850 millimeters, width 1861 millimeters, height 1424 millimeters and wheelbase 2865 millimeters. Rear passengers will appreciate the increased dimensions compared to the C-Class Cabriolet: the wheelbase is 25 millimeters longer, which means an additional 72 millimeters of knee room and 19 millimeters more shoulder and elbow room.

The boot capacity of 385 liters (295 liters with the roof down) is extremely practical for everyday use. If necessary, it can be increased using folding rear seat backrests. Buyers can conveniently fold them out of the trunk in a 60:40 ratio. Access to the trunk is contactless and fully automatic thanks to the HANDS FREE ACCESS function. KEYLESS-GO also comes standard (car doors are locked and unlocked by touching the door handle).

Unique interactive and personalized experience

The CLE Cabriolet impresses with its interactive, personalized infotainment offering. The third generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system allows the use of third-party applications such as the entertainment platform TikTok, video conferencing system Zoom and Internet radio and podcast provider Audials. The MBUX Entertainment package is available as an option in the Mercedes me store. This includes internet radio, music streaming and a data plan from the third party provider you choose.

Thanks to artificial intelligence, MBUX also offers a new level of personalization - with automated features that provide additional convenience. At launch, clients will be able to use standard procedure templates. Examples: "Cold Days" (heated seats turn on at a certain outside temperature) or "Date Night" (romantic music played via Bluetooth; ambient lighting turns pink). Users access templates through a carousel on the central display. They can also create their own procedures by combining several functions and conditions (My Procedures menu).

Dynamic and comfortable driving – the offer includes a powerful 6-cylinder engine.

The chassis of the new CLE Convertible makes for plenty of driving fun on twisty roads. At the same time, it offers an exceptional level of comfort on long journeys. The standard equipment includes a comfortable suspension lowered by 15 millimeters, which combines harmonious damping and responsive, sporty handling. A sports suspension with amplitude-based selective damping is available as an option. The options list also includes the DYNAMIC BODY CONTROL suspension, which allows for comprehensive adjustment of the characteristics, from extremely sporty to comfortable, thanks to continuous adaptive damping at the front and rear. The active suspension individually adjusts the damping of each wheel depending on the characteristics of the engine, transmission and steering. It takes into account speed and road conditions. The DYNAMIC SELECT switch gives the driver the choice between a comfortable riding position or a firmer, sportier riding position.

All engines are mild hybrids.

Each of them uses a starter integrated with an alternator and a 48 V on-board electrical system. The range includes four-cylinder units - petrol and diesel - and a 3.0 liter six-cylinder in-line petrol engine (Mercedes-Benz CLE 450 4MATIC, fuel consumption combined: 7.9–8.5 l/100 km, combined CO₂ emissions: 180–192 g/km; WLTP).
