The idea for the Audi RS 6 Avant GT references the 2020 RS 6 GTO concept project created by students. Twelve students worked on it for 6 months with the support of Audi Design, studying the work of bodybuilders, mechanics, and painters. and technology. Their main inspiration was the legendary 1989 Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO racing car. The impact of their project shows how much contribution young talent can make to a company during an internship.

Special version of the Audi RS 6 Avant GT

The special edition features many exclusive details both outside and inside. Its top position is highlighted by an impressive open roof spoiler, a redesigned diffuser and 22-inch wheels with a distinctive design. The interior concept is defined, among other things, by high-quality bucket seats, a fresh color combination and individual numbering on the center console. The adjustable, lightweight coilover suspension developed specifically for the RS 6 Avant GT and the redesigned quattro sports differential on the rear axle enhance the sporty driving experience.

The eight-cylinder V-engine with twin turbocharging produces 463 kW (630 hp) and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. between 2300 and 4500 rpm (WLTP combined fuel consumption: 12.2–12.7 l/100 km, WLTP combined CO2 emissions: 277–289 g/km). Deliveries of the Audi RS 6 Avant GT will begin in the second quarter of 2024, and its price starts from 219,355 euros.

Unrivaled appearance

The new Audi RS 6 Avant GT stands out from the other variants in its range, the RS 6 Avant and RS 6 Avant Performance, with an even more impressive appearance based on the RS 6 GTO concept. The expressive front end clearly references the RS 6 GTO concept. The Singleframe grille and air intakes are finished entirely in high-gloss black, giving the car an even lower and wider appearance. The sharper design is highlighted by vertical stripes in the front bumper, a new air intake insert and a distinctive front splitter integrated into the bumper.

For the first time, Audi Sport GmbH has used a completely redesigned front cover made of carbon fiber. The one-of-a-kind carbon fiber finish is eye-catching and matches the exterior color perfectly. Integrated air outlets behind the 22-inch wheels reduce air pressure in the wheel arches and improve brake cooling. Not only the front lid, but also the wings are made entirely of carbon fiber for the first time – a feature not only of the new car, but also of the Audi production site.

The profile is highlighted by inserts on the side sills, exterior mirror caps made of high-gloss carbon fiber and the aforementioned 22-inch 6-spoke wheels developed specifically for the RS 6 Avant GT. At the rear, the special version attracts attention in black “RS 6 GT” lettering, a specially adapted tailgate with a visually lower loading lip and a functional diffuser with a vertically positioned reflector, which makes the car even wider. The whole thing is topped by a distinctive motorsport-inspired double wing, derived almost 1:1 from the concept prepared by the trainees. Moreover, to achieve an even flatter and sportier silhouette, the roof rails have been removed for the first time in the history of the RS 6 Avant.

Buyers of the RS 6 Avant GT can choose an exclusive package in two colors. The former, combined with the Arkona white paint, combines the traditional Audi Sport colors of black, gray and red. The model markings on the front and back are in the same color scheme. Originally designed rims always have a high-gloss white finish. As an alternative to Nardo Gray or Mythos Black, the packaging is available in shades of black and grey. For this configuration, Audi Sport GmbH offers wheels in black with a high-gloss or matt finish. The four rings on the Singelframe and trunk lid as well as the model number are also black as standard. The paint colors available for the new variant are Arkona White, Nardo Grey, Chronos Gray Metallic, Madeira Brown Metallic and Mythos Black Metallic.

The RS 6 Avant GT leaves the production line with the RS plus design package as standard. The black interior is broken up by numerous accents in an exclusive combination of red and copper, such as stitching on the steering wheel, center console side panels, center armrest and door panel armrests, as well as on the floor mats with "RS 6 GT" lettering. "inscriptions. The same color scheme characterizes the new RS bucket seats, upholstered in leather and Dinamica fabric, with “RS 6 GT” lettering just below the headrests. The honeycomb stitching on the center seat panels shimmers in Express Red, while the stitching on the edges of the bucket seats is a copper shade.

The armrests, instrument panel, center console with side panels and door handles are covered in black Dinamica microfiber, while the decorative inserts are decorated with the same material in a rich black color. If desired, decorative inserts can be made of carbon fiber with a diagonal structure and open pores. The seat belts attract attention with their red hue. Another highlight is the center console, which bears the serial number of this example, one of a limited fleet of 660 cars.

Take productivity to the next level

The new RS 6 Avant GT produces 463 kW (630 hp) and a maximum torque of 850 Nm (WLTP combined fuel consumption: 12.2-12.7 l/100 km, WLTP combined CO2 emissions: 277 - 289 g/km). Compared to the entry-level RS 6 Avant (fuel consumption WLTP combined: 12.1–12.7 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined WLTP: 276–289 g/km), this represents an increase of 22 kW (30 hp .) and 50 hp. Nm. The top variant of this range accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the RS 6 Avant, and from 0 to 200 km/h in just 11.5 seconds, i.e. 0.5 seconds faster than the RS 6 Avant. . The standard top speed is 305 km/h and braking is provided by the standard RS ceramic brake system.

The torque of the 4.0 TFSI engine is transmitted to the permanent quattro all-wheel drive via a standard 8-speed Tiptronic transmission with optimized shift times. Like the RS 6 Avant Performance, the new RS 6 Avant GT uses the latest version of the locking center differential with a particularly lightweight and compact design. It divides the engine torque between the front and rear axles in a ratio of 40:60. In the event of slipping, more driving force is automatically transferred to the axle with better traction; up to 70% goes forward and up to 85% goes back. The redesigned center differential improves driving dynamics, significantly contributing to more precise cornering and reduced understeer when driving at the limit.

To further differentiate the special edition from other RS models, the latest RS 6 Avant GT receives a specially tuned quattro sports differential on the rear axle. The new parameters are aimed at providing additional agility and increasing the torque sent to the rear axle in the “dynamic” driving mode. The driver can enjoy a sporty, neutral and very precise driving experience. For the first time – and only on the RS 6 Avant GT – an adjustable spring suspension is fitted as standard, lowering the ride height by 10 millimeters compared to the RS 6 Avant and offering the perfect combination of dynamics and comfort.

Increased spring rates, three-stage adjustable dampers and stiffer anti-roll bars (30 % front and 80 % rear) reduce body roll, further enhancing driving pleasure. The necessary tools and instructions for making custom adjustments are also provided on board. As an alternative, customers can order the RS plus sports suspension with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) or the RS adaptive air suspension.

The grip needed for dynamic driving is provided by the new high-performance Continental Sport Contact 7 285/30 R22 tires. They provide continuously improved grip on both dry and wet roads, and also reduce understeer when cornering at high speeds, providing generally more precise handling across the entire speed range. And that's not all: the braking distance from 100 to 0 km/h on the new tires is 2 meters shorter.

Top class production

There is something else that distinguishes the new RS 6 Avant GT: unlike the RS 6 Avant, this variant is not assembled entirely on the production line in Neckarsulm. Once the body work and paint are completed, each of the 660 examples is sent to Böllinger Höfe, where small-scale production of the Audi R8, Audi e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT is already underway. This extremely flexible facility, located next to the Audi plant in Neckarsulm, is unique for the entire group and therefore offers the best conditions for the development of the Audi RS 6 Avant GT.

Seven experienced employees carry out final assembly here in three stations prepared specifically for the needs of this exclusive special edition. Each car spends the whole day there. All GT components are hand-built, including the engine cover, fenders, side skirts, dual wing, bumpers and adjustable coilovers.

Production at the Böllinger Höfe site is net carbon neutral1. To achieve this goal, Audi uses clean electricity and heat from renewable sources, which is an important milestone for both the brand and the Neckarsulm plant. The CO2 emissions that Audi cannot yet avoid using renewable energy sources are offset by carbon credits (offsets) from certified green projects. The company is thus making a significant contribution to Mission:Zero, the premium car manufacturer's environmental program for completely sustainable production.
