New Mercedes CLA Coupe and CLA Shooting Brake
Numerous innovations and improved standard equipment reinforce the position of the CLA Coupe and CLA Shooting Brake as trendsetters in the compact car segment. Mercedes-Benz variants feature a reshaped front bumper, redesigned star grille and a new rear diffuser, further emphasizing the CLA's sporty character.
CLA Coupe and CLA Shooting Brake from Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG
The updated design is complemented by updated High Performance LED headlights, now standard, and LED taillights. Extensive customization options are complemented by new paint colors Hyper Blue (CLA only) and Spectral Blue, as well as three additional wheel designs up to 19 inches in diameter. The Mercedes-AMG CLA Coupe and CLA Shooting Brake variants have also undergone numerous changes. From the outside, the facelifted 35 Series is particularly eye-catching with its typical AMG vertical-pillar grille.
Phenomenal interior with modern design, fresh colors and new finishes
The highlight of the CLA's cockpit is the free-standing dual screen, which now includes 7-inch and 10.25-inch displays as standard. Two 10.25" widescreen displays are available as an option. Standard equipment includes a nappa leather steering wheel; alternatively, for the first time, a multifunction sports steering wheel upholstered in ARTICO synthetic leather is available. The interior can be further enhanced with new trim elements: carbon fibre, open-pore basswood or microfibre brown MICROCUT (AMG line only). A heated steering wheel is offered for the first time in the AMG range.
The CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake now also feature comfort seats upholstered in ARTICO synthetic leather and black 3D embossed fabric as standard. On request, they can be ordered in the trendy sage color. The Progressive trim line offers three interior colors: black, macchiato beige and sage grey, while the standard upholstery in ARTICO synthetic leather and MICROCUT microfiber is now also available in bahia brown. The interior color palette for the AMG range is complemented by a combination of red pepper and black.
Importantly, the fabric covering the comfort seats on the 100 % is made from recycled materials. For ARTICO/MICROCUT covers, the ratio is 65 % for the seat surface and 85 % for the material underneath. The use of recycled materials is an important part of Mercedes-Benz's transition to zero CO2 emissions. Already at the end of this decade, the luxury car manufacturer aims to cut CO2 emissions per passenger car over the entire life cycle by at least half compared to 2020 results. And from 2039, the fleet of Mercedes cars and vans must be CO2 neutral (including offsets) across the entire automotive value chain.
Significantly improved hardware and simplified offering
Mercedes-Benz has significantly expanded the CLA's standard equipment and tailored its offering logic even more precisely to customer preferences and habits. The basic equipment includes, for example, high-beam assistant, reversing camera, USB package or the aforementioned LED headlights. The Progressive line additionally includes packages for parking and mirrors, as well as an EASY-PACK rear cover for the CLA Shooting Brake. Both models come standard with 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels (choose two colors).
The selected items of equipment have been combined into packages based on the customer's actual selection. Design options such as color, trim and rims are still completely custom.
Latest generation MBUX system and Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos
The CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake receive the latest generation of the MBUX operating system with a new design: classic, sporty and discreet. Three display modes (navigation, support, services) and seven color worlds allow you to customize the instrument cluster and the central touch screen according to the wishes of the driver and the current situation. In addition to the new design, the updated infotainment system also impresses with higher performance. For more versatile connectivity, the CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake now feature an additional USB-C port and more powerful USB charging, with all USB ports illuminated.
By activating online services in the Mercedes me app, the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant gets even more options for dialogue and learning about user habits. Some actions can now be performed without speaking the activation password. The assistant can also explain some of the car's functions.
Another new feature is the optional Burmester surround sound system, which offers immersive Dolby Atmos sound. Arranging sound objects in a 3D sound field and adapting them to any playback environment gives your music more space, clarity and depth.
The new CLA Coupé and CLA Shooting Brake have also improved their active safety. The Advanced Driving Safety Package includes: Lane Keeping Assist, which enhances driving comfort by integrating with Active Steering. The latest generation parking package supports longitudinal parking and offers 360-degree parking visualization with a 3D camera.
Powerful electrified motors
CLA petrol engines are fully electrified. The range includes 4-cylinder units as standard with a 7- or 8-speed DCT automatic transmission. As mild hybrids, they use a starter integrated with a belt driven alternator (RSG) and an additional 48 volt on-board electrical system. The mild hybrid system not only provides an additional 10 kW (14 hp) of power, but also significantly improves the level of comfort: reduces noise during start-up and vibration, allows you to “sail” the engine for a stable ride. In addition, the RSG regenerates energy during braking and feeds the 12-volt on-board system and 48-volt battery. The new ECO Score 3.0 assistant motivates the driver to save fuel by differentially evaluating different driving stages.
More power for plug-in hybrids
The updated CLA plug-in hybrid variants take another significant step forward: the CLA 250 e Coupé and CLA 250 e Shooting Brake. Their high-voltage battery has a large useful capacity, which increases the range on electric traction. The power of the electric unit has been increased by 5 kW to 80 kW (109 hp). There are three charging options. Standard alternating current (AC) charging power can now be increased to 11 kW instead of the previous 7.4 kW. In addition, as before, the battery offers direct current (DC) charging up to 22 kW, which allows you to recharge the energy from 10% to 80% in about 25 minutes.
CLA by Mercedes-AMG: new wheel design and updated interior color palette
The Mercedes-AMG 35 Series is now available with three new wheel designs: the standard 18-inch wheels (ten-spoke, black) can be changed to 19-inch matt-black five-twin-spoke wheels (choice of two finishes). from). The new wheel range for the 45 S series includes two 19-inch five-twin-spoke wheels.
Inside, the new upholstery of the standard sports seats or the optional AMG Performance seats catches the eye. The combination of ARTICO synthetic leather and MICROCUT microfiber is also available in bahia brown, while the ARTICO leather comes in a previously unavailable combination of sage gray and black. On the other hand, leather upholstery is available for the first time in a combination of red and black. But the news does not end there: the range of decorative elements is complemented by the optional large-pore linden wood.
The most powerful CLA versions come standard with the new double-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel with harmoniously integrated buttons that combine high-quality displays with intuitive control logic. They allow you to control important functions and driving programs without taking your hands off the wheel.
Technical modifications of the 35 series
The 35-series CLA is now supported by a mild hybrid system with a 48-volt electrical system and a second-generation belt-driven starter-generator that provides a temporary 10 kW (14 hp) power boost, as well as efficiency-enhancing features such as coasting and recovery. The installation of a mild hybrid also increases comfort - the operation of the Start-Stop function and coasting are almost imperceptible. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivers 225 kW (306 hp) to all four wheels via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G transmission and AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Sporty performance (0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.9 seconds) is combined here with a wide range of driving sensations, from very sporty handling to long-distance comfort. A new front radiator improves thermal management during intense riding.
AMG Street Style Edition for the 45 Series
The CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Coupe and Shooting Brake are available in a special limited AMG Street Style version. Their sporty design is further enhanced by the MANUFAKTUR paintwork in Magno Mountain Grey, complemented by side trims with the AMG logo and the AMG checkerboard pattern with orange accents. The version is fitted with 19-inch AMG five-spoke wheels in matt black with high-sheen edges. On request, 19" cross-spoke forged wheels in matt black with polished rims are available. The red painted brake calipers create an attractive contrast to the rims. On the outside, the status of the special version is also evident in other elements: the AMG aerodynamic package, the AMG night packages I and II and the AMG fuel cap. The characteristic design continues in the cabin. The AMG Performance seats in black MICROCUT microfibre are embellished with bright orange stitching, which is also featured on the dashboard and floor mats. Attention to detail is underlined by the AMG Performance steering wheel in MICROCUT leather and AMG microfiber and aluminum trim (same design as the outer film) and signature red illumination.
The CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Coupé and Shooting Brake are purebred compact sports cars with 310 kW (421 hp), 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.1 seconds and a top speed limited to 270 km/h. The AMG Turbo engine not only ensures maximum performance, but also impresses with its spontaneous responses. The fully variable all-wheel drive with AMG TORQUE CONTROL makes a significant contribution to the high driving dynamics. The rear axle transmission includes two electronically controlled multi-plate clutches, each connected to a propeller shaft. The result: variable power distribution not only between the axles, but also selectively between the rear wheels.
