Premiere of Toyota Yaris Cross

Toyota Yaris Cross, a new model that will expand Toyota's hybrid lineup to include a B-segment urban SUV, has made its debut in Russia and is starting its national tour. By the end of September, the car will be presented in approximately 50 Toyota showrooms. The car is available for pre-sale from June 1, and the first copies will be handed over to new owners in October.

Toyota debuts in the B-SUV segment with the Yaris Cross. The car is available with a fourth-generation hybrid system and AWD-i intelligent electric all-wheel drive. Compact dimensions and fuel-efficient hybrid drive, combined with a spacious interior and a luggage compartment of up to 397 liters, make it a true all-rounder for both city and leisure trips. The new model is distinguished by modern technologies of multimedia, connectivity, safety and comfort.

The Yaris Cross is an all-European vehicle that continues both the Yaris tradition and the history of autonomous SUVs that began in 1994 with the Toyota RAV4. Each generation of Yaris brought revolutionary changes to the European market - the first was awarded the title of "Car of the Year 2000", the second became the first city car to receive 5 stars in Euro NCAP crash tests. The third generation introduced hybrid drive to the B segment, and the fourth generation Yaris, designed with TNGA architecture, was Toyota's next European Car of the Year.

The new Yaris Cross has been very well received in the Polish market and buyers are ready to take full advantage of its benefits - hybrid technology, AWD-i electric all-wheel drive, excellent driving performance, rich equipment and modern technologies. Toyota has received 450 orders for the new model since presale began, 75% of which are for the hybrid variant. Every second reserved hybrid Yaris Cross has an AWD-i drive. The most popular equipment version is the limited edition Premiere Edition, and as many as 71 percent of ordered cars are equipped with the highest versions.

Five trim levels

The new Yaris Cross is available in Active, Comfort, Executive, for off-road and limited premiere edition. For each version, you can choose from a variety of body color options. The palette includes 8 lacquers and 12 two-tone combinations with black, gold or white tops.

Already in the basic Active version, the car is equipped with the Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system with a 7-inch color touch screen, USB, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, as well as Toyota Connected Car connectivity services. This version also includes the full suite of the latest generation Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems, including Cross Collision Avoidance, Collision Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and eCall Automatic Emergency Alert. Safety is also boosted by seven standard airbags, including a center airbag between the front seats, which was first introduced last fall in the fourth-generation Yaris.

In addition, the driver has a 4.2-inch color screen on the instrument panel, power, heated mirrors, manual or automatic air conditioning for the hybrid version, an armrest and LED daytime running lights. Optional equipment includes: the new Toyota Teammate Advanced parking assist system and a 7-inch color display on the dashboard.

Adventure and premiere editions

The Adventure variant is one of the top three trim levels. This underscores the character of the Yaris Cross as a true off-road vehicle designed for both city and off-road driving. Yaris Cross Adventure is only available with a hybrid system - front-wheel drive or AWD-i. It features two-tone bodywork, front and rear bumper grilles, roof rails, dark gray 18-inch alloy wheels, black headlining and special upholstery with leather accents and gold stitching. The car received a new Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system with a 9-inch Full HD color touch screen, which can be supplemented with an 8-speaker JBL Premium Audio system. Premiere Edition is the highest version of Yaris Cross.with electric lift and contactless tailgate, HUD on the windshield and perforated leather upholstery. The car in this version has all the charms of the Adventure variety, a two-tone body and the ability to expand the multimedia system with a JBL premium audio system. New hybrid SUV with AWD-i drive

The Yaris Cross is developed on the same GA-B TNGA modular platform as the Yaris hatchback. The TNGA architecture provides a high level of body rigidity and a well-balanced structure for very good driving performance.

The new SUV is 24cm longer than the Yaris, 6cm taller and has more ground clearance. Due to the fact that the Yaris Cross is more massive, it received a new, reinforced suspension with new generation MacPherson struts. With a length of 4180 mm, the car has a spacious interior and a luggage compartment with a capacity of up to 397 liters, which can be equipped with a double, split floor and belt anchorages. In higher trim levels, the rear seatbacks fold in a ratio of 40:20:40. As a result, longer items can be transported in the central tunnel.

The line of power units includes a Dynamic Force 1.5 gasoline engine with a capacity of 125 hp. available with manual or automatic transmission, and the system Hybrid Dynamic Force based on the 1.5 engine with a total power of 116 hp.. Disks for the Yaris Cross, as well as for the Yaris hatchback, are produced partially in Russia.

The Yarisa Cross differentiates itself from the segment with its AWD-i intelligent electric all-wheel drive. In this solution, the hybrid system is supported by an electric motor driving the rear wheels. This solution provides very good grip on slippery surfaces and facilitates movement on uneven roads. The AWD-i version has a multi-link rear suspension and off-road support systems - Off-Road Mode Selector, Trail Mode and Hill Descent Assist.

The design and styling of the new Yaris Cross was created in Europe with the markets of the Old Continent in mind. The car meets the expectations of European drivers interested in the increasingly popular B-SUV segment. It will be built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF) alongside the next generation Yaris. Toyota plans to produce more than 150,000 Yaris Cross units a year.
