Porsche presents the new 911 GT3
The latest, seventh incarnation of this powerful sports car, like the previous one, was developed in close cooperation with Porsche Motorsport. The new 911 GT3 brings purebred racing technology directly to the production model even more consistently than before: the double-wishbone front axle design and sophisticated aerodynamics with a swan-neck rear wing and striking diffuser are taken from the famous GT racing car, the 911. RSR and developed 375 kW (510 hp). The 4-litre six-cylinder boxer engine is based on the 911 GT3 R powertrain, which has been tested and proven in endurance racing. The new 911 GT3 Cup uses a high-frequency unit with impressive acoustics almost unchanged. This is how a brilliant machine was created: efficient, emotional, precise and high-performance – ideal for the track and ideal for everyday use.
The phenomenal power of the Porsche 911 GT3
The phenomenal strength of the 911 GT3 lies in its performance. With a top speed of 320 km/h (318 km/h with PDK), the car is even faster than the previous 911 GT3 RS. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. Porsche is also offering a new model with a 6-speed manual transmission for a particularly rigorous driving experience. Sophisticated aerodynamics, developed with racing experience in mind, generate much more downforce without a noticeable effect on the drag coefficient. In the working position, manually adjustable wing and diffuser elements significantly increase the aerodynamic pressure, which is necessary for high cornering speeds. However, this configuration is exclusively for track riding, because this is where the 911 GT3 can show all its strengths.
During the final test on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, the traditional benchmark for all Porsche sports cars, the new model was over 17 seconds faster than its predecessor. Development pilot Lars Kern covered a full 20.8 km circle in just 6:59.927 minutes. The shorter 20.6-kilometer loop that previously served as the benchmark was completed by the 911 GT3 in 6:55.2 minutes. Equipped with the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, the car consistently delivered consistent performance in the hands of professional Porsche brand spokesman Jörg Bergmeister over several runs. For Bergmeister, an experienced professional race car driver, this is "by far the best stock car" he has ever driven in Green Hell.
Despite the wider body, larger wheels and additional technical features, the new 911 GT3's curb weight is not inferior to its predecessor. The model with manual transmission weighs 1418 kg, and with PDK - 1435 kg. A carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) front hood, lightweight glass windows, optimized brake discs and forged alloy wheels, and rear cab protection help keep weight disciplined. The lightweight sports exhaust system reduces its own weight by at least 10 kg and, thanks to the infinitely variable, electrically adjustable flaps, makes it possible to combine an extremely emotional sound with the Euro 6d ISC FCM (EU6 AP) exhaust standard. The combined fuel consumption of the new 911 GT3 is 13.3 l/100 km (PDK 12.4 l/100 km).
Racing genes are visible in almost every detail of the new 911 GT3. The cab design is in line with the current generation model. New is the track screen: simply press a button to zoom out the displays to the left and right of the center tachometer, graduated to 10,000 rpm, to display information relevant to track driving such as tire pressure, oil temperature, fuel level and coolant temperature. liquids. There are also recommendations for a shift assistant with colored stripes to the left and right of the tachometer and a shift indicator taken from Porsche Motorsport.
Customers, especially Porsche GT models, are increasingly requesting individual equipment. For this reason, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur functions are available for the new 911 GT3; they are complemented by model-specific accessories such as a lightweight carbon roof with visible structure. Also noteworthy are the side mirrors with carbon fiber top panels and tinted matrix LED headlights, as well as their matching Exclusive Design taillights without red accents. The range of black discs is complemented by Guards Red or Shark Blue discs. For interior design, a choice of body color or another shade is available. These include: tachometer and stopwatch Sport Chrono dials, seat belts and decorative trims.
As exclusive as the new 911 GT3, this is a bespoke watch that Porsche Design offers exclusively to car buyers. As an automotive benchmark, the watch stands out for its dynamic design, excellent performance and high quality workmanship. Its body embodies the genes of Porsche Motorsport and, like the connecting rods of the GT3 engine, is made of strong, lightweight titanium. The design of the rotor is reminiscent of the 911 GT3 rim. The colored bezel around the dial can be matched to the body color of the 911 GT3.
