Porsche Unveils New 2023 Cayenne

Porsche has greatly improved its famous luxury SUV. The new Cayenne debuts with a digital display and operating concept, a new chassis layout and innovative high-tech features. “This is one of the biggest product updates in the history of Porsche,” said Michael Schaetzle, vice president of the Cayenne Product Line.

HD Matrix LED Headlights provide lighting adapted to any driving situation, an interior air quality system filters external pollutants and, for the first time in a Cayenne, the front passenger has its own infotainment display – for video streaming while driving, for example. With significantly improved design and an expanded engine range, the new Cayenne underlines its ambition to be the sportiest car in its segment.

Digital and driver-focused: The Porsche driver experience

In the latest Cayenne, Porsche is integrating a completely redesigned operating and information concept. The new Porsche Driver Experience, introduced for the first time in the Taycan, focuses on the driver and optimizes handling. Access to frequently used functions is located directly on the steering wheel or next to it. For example, the lever on the left behind the steering wheel is also used to adjust the auxiliary systems.

The automatic transmission lever was located on the dashboard, freeing up storage space on a new center console and a large climate control panel with sleek black trim. Convenient, easy-to-reach controls combined with mechanical air conditioning switches and touch-sensitive volume control combine optimal functionality with sophisticated design. A key feature of the new Porsche Driver Experience concept is the right balance between digital and analogue elements.

Updated cockpit Cayenne for the first time it includes a fully digital 12.6-inch instrument panel in what is known as a curved freestanding form. It offers several options for displaying information. An optimized head-up display is available as an option. The standard 12.3-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) center screen fits harmoniously into the new instrument panel and provides access to all important functions. Connectivity in the new Cayenne is optimized with built-in apps such as Spotify® and Apple Music®.

For the first time, a 10.9-inch secondary display is offered on the passenger side to enhance the driving experience - it can display performance data, provide separate access to infotainment system controls and, depending on the market, broadcast video while traveling. A special film makes the contents of this display invisible to the driver.

Exquisite design, innovative lighting technology

The latest Cayenne has received a particularly expressive look. A new front fascia, combined with more accentuated fenders, a new hood and high-tech headlights, emphasize the car's width. The rear end is defined by three-dimensional taillights, a harmonious lower section and a new rear bumper with integrated license plate holder. Expanded palette of varnishes with three new shades, sports packages for the Cayenne Coupé that reduce the curb weight to 33 kgand a new wide range of 20-, 21- and 22-inch wheels allows you to create an individual dynamic vehicle configuration.

Matrix LED headlights are standard on the model. A new option is HD Matrix LED headlights. Their innovative high-resolution twin-module technology - over 32,000 pixels per lamp - masks the position of other road users in the high beam with pixel-perfect accuracy, preventing them from being dazzled. Depending on the traffic situation, the brightness of the modules can be adjusted in the range of more than 1000 degrees. A number of lighting modes enhance safety and driving comfort in various conditions.

The new Cayenne Porsche also features air quality control system. As standard, the vehicle uses predictive navigation data to detect approaching tunnel entrances and automatically activates air recirculation. Optionally, the sensor detects the level of fine dust particles in the air and, if necessary, passes them several times through a fine filter. In addition, the ionizer removes many germs and pollutants from the air, which is especially beneficial for allergy sufferers.

In addition, customers can benefit from a wide range of new and optimized assistance systems. These include an active speed limiter and corner avoidance system, cornering assistance and Porsche's advanced InnoDrive system, which is available in combination with adaptive cruise control. As a result, the new Cayenne supports the driver even more effectively in dangerous situations and in traffic jams on motorways and arterial roads.

Widened gap between ride comfort and performance

Porsche is now equipping the Cayenne with suspension with steel springs and Porsche Active Suspension Management System (PASM). New shock absorbers with dual valve technology, which allows for separate control of deflection and rebound, provide optimal performance in all driving situations. Significant improvements have been made, especially in the areas of low speed comfort, dynamic cornering and roll and roll balancing.

Even more driving pleasure is offered by the new adaptive air suspension with dual chamber and dual valve technology. Its smooth characteristics provide high stability and even more intuitive handling on paved roads and off-road - both compared to the standard suspension and its predecessor. At the same time, the adaptive air suspension further enhances performance and responsiveness, while also reducing body roll in dynamic driving situations. There are also even more pronounced differences between Normal, Sport and Sport Plus driving modes.

High power hybrid variant with an electric range of up to 90 km.

In Europe, the new Cayenne will debut with three engine options. The comprehensively improved 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine developed by Porsche replaces the previous V6 engine in the new Cayenne S. With a maximum power output of 349 kW (474 ​​hp) and a maximum hp) more and 50 Nm more than its predecessor – both in SUV and Coupé it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of 273 km/h.

The Cayenne range opens with an optimized 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine.. It now develops a maximum torque of 260 kW (353 hp) and 500 Nm, which is 10 kW (13 hp) and 50 Nm more than before.

The six-cylinder engine is also the powertrain of the latest Cayenne E-Hybrid. Combined with a new electric motor boosted by 30 kW to 130 kW (176 hp), system output is increased to 346 kW (470 hp). The high-voltage battery, whose capacity has been increased from 17.9 kWh to 25.9 kWh depending on the configuration, provides an electric range of up to 90 km WLTP. The new 11kW on-board charger reduces charging time from a suitable power source to less than 2.5 hours, despite increased battery capacity. Vehicle efficiency is enhanced by optimized hybrid driving modes.

In most Porsche markets outside the European Union, the Turbo GT remains the top-of-the-line variant of the Cayenne, designed for maximum performance on asphalt. It is produced exclusively in the coupe body and has all the optimizations and innovations of the updated model range. In addition, the output of the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine has been increased by 14 kW (19 hp) to 485 kW (659 hp). The Cayenne Turbo GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and has a top speed of 305 km/h.
