Premiere of CUPRA Leon

The first CUPRA Leon was presented at the opening of the new CUPRA headquarters in Martorell near Barcelona. The model combines engine power and sporty trim with innovative technologies such as Plug-in Hybrid Drive and Emergency Assist 3.0. We briefly present the most important features of the CUPRA Leon.

The new CUPRA Leon features a dynamic design that sets it apart from the competition and a wide range of powerful engines for a sporty driving style. Two variants of the model will appear on the market at once - a hatchback and a Sportstourer. Car accessories, incl. full LED lighting, sports suspension, bucket seats, keyless entry or ambient lighting have been designed to meet the needs of the most demanding drivers.

First CUPRA hybrid

Under the hood of the CUPRA Leon will be a 2.0-liter TSI engine with a capacity of 245, 300 or 310 hp. (only in the Sportstourer version with 4Drive) for high comfort and driving dynamics. To cope with the challenges of electrification, CUPRA is also introducing a plug-in hybrid drive in the Leon for the first time.

“Hybrid drive with 245 hp. is the first step towards fulfilling CUPRA's commitment to electrifying the high-performance segment,” says Axel Androff, Vice President of Research and Development for SEAT and CUPRA. - The combination of an advanced internal combustion engine with an electric drive provides better performance and driving dynamics.

CUPRA is equipped with a DSG Dual Clutch Transmission which provides safer, faster and smoother gear changes. During the trip, the driver will be able to better control the movement thanks to the gearshift paddles mounted on the sports steering wheel.

Design ready to go

The exterior design of the CUPRA Leon is an evolution of the sister SEAT range, designed for high performance and sporty driving enthusiasts. The CUPRA has wider air intakes, copper or silver 19-inch wheels (except for the 245 hp variant, which comes standard with 18-inch wheels) and copper-colored 370mm Brembo brakes. Color accents also appear on the rear-view mirrors, which contrast with the body color. Modified body parts have not only an aesthetic function, but also improve the aerodynamics of the car. In this respect, the new CUPRA Leon on the 8% is better than the SEAT Leon on the Cupra version.

The new Leon will be available in eight paint colors: base white (Candy White), three metallic colors (Magnetic Tech, Midnight Black and Urban Silver), two specialty colors (Desire Red and Graphene Grey) and two matte finishes (Magnetic Tech Matt). and Petrol Blue Matte).

The interior of the CUPRA Leon also reflects the car's sporty spirit. This can be seen not only in equipment such as bucket seats, copper trim and general interior lighting, but also in technological solutions. Noteworthy is the new steering wheel with engine start button and CUPRA drive mode button, as well as the special Sport View option in the virtual cockpit. After selecting it, the display will show information such as: torque, power, acceleration, which will allow you to monitor the driving performance of the car.

The highest level of security

The designers of the model wanted to combine sporty performance with the highest possible level of safety. To do this, CUPRA Leon is equipped with a number of modern security systems and virtual assistants, incl. Predictive cruise control with adaptive traffic signs and navigation data, Lane Assist Plus and Traffic Jam Assist.

CUPRA Leon's Emergency Assist 3.0 intelligent safety assistant will keep the driver focused and reduce distracting audio and visual stimuli. With the correct settings, if there is no reaction from the driver, the car will begin to pulsate when braking, and eventually come to a complete stop and turn on the hazard warning lights. If necessary, thanks to the installed eCall system, travelers will quickly inform emergency services about an unforeseen incident.

The CUPRA Leon has been designed and will be manufactured in Martorell near Barcelona.
