Subaru Europe, the representative of Subaru Corporation in Europe, announced the release of the new Crosstrek to the European market. The Crosstrek is a new version of the famous Subaru XV and will replace it in the European lineup.

Since its launch in 2011, the Subaru XV has enjoyed great popularity among the brand's drivers in Europe. As the model's popularity grew over the years, it played a key role in reshaping Subaru's brand image, moving beyond its strong rally heritage and positioning it as a niche outdoor SUV brand. This model reflects values based on safety, driving pleasure and reliability, which is why Subaru owners typically describe their vehicles as "safe, fun and durable." The Subaru XV is currently the brand's best-selling model in Europe, accounting for over 40% of total sales (January to August 2023).

The new Crosstrek continues to be distinctive. permanent symmetrical all-wheel drive (S-AWD) with electrified SUBARU e-BOXER drive system. It consists of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder two-stroke engine with direct fuel injection and an electric unit integrated with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission. The SUBARU e-BOXER drive system helps achieve an even lower center of gravity and a more balanced distribution of vehicle weight between the front and rear wheels.

The optimized torque distribution of the S-AWD permanent drive ensures the best driving characteristics, guaranteeing comfortable and dynamic driving as well as stable handling. The SUBARU e-BOXER electrified transmission adjusts power distribution between the gasoline engine and electric motor depending on driving conditions, switching between 3 modes: internal combustion engine drive, electric drive (EV) and electric drive of the gasoline engine.

Full-time S-AWD is standard on the Crosstrek. provides driving confidence and excellent performance in all weather conditions, while Active Torque Vectoring is responsible for more efficient driving and better cornering performance.

The standard SI-DRIVE function provides a driving experience to suit every mood and scenario. “I” mode supports economical driving, while “S” mode improves throttle response.

Subaru's global platform has also been improved.

Predictive vehicle stability is achieved by increasing torsional rigidity on the 10%, increasing body and mount rigidity, and improving the feel of the responsive steering system. Reinforcements and high-strength steel sheets have also been added to improve crash safety, while an optimized frame of the bonnet interior panels provides increased pedestrian protection.

The design of the new Crosstrek e-BOXER expresses its combative character.

The model's exterior features sharper, more dynamic lines that continue to align with Subaru's DYNAMIC x SOLID design philosophy. The grille has been widened at the front, and the rear light clusters give the body a more confident stance. The raised hood and sharply defined fenders highlight the car's sharp lines.

A total of 10 exterior colors are available in Europe, including four new colors:

  • Pearl of sunshine,
  • Oasis Blue,
  • Offshore Blue Metallic
  • and sapphire blue pearl.

The two-tone gray design and silver stitching highlight Crosstrek's readiness for an active outdoor lifestyle. The interior has been optimized with increased shoulder room, comfortable seat spacing, and head and legroom to provide the driver with an optimal driving position.

The Crosstrek offers 1,314 liters of cargo space.

Thanks to the rear seats, the backrests of which fold in a ratio of 60:40, you can freely expand the space in the trunk. Moderate sill heights for easy access and a wide loading opening make packing easy. The range of the wiper arm on the rear window has also been increased (by 45 mm) and a central windshield washer nozzle has been added (3 front nozzles in total), which provides better visibility.

High standard of ride quality, quietness and comfort.

Engineers have made it their mission to provide the Crosstrek with the high standard of ride quality, quietness and comfort typically associated with much more expensive models in higher segments. While improvements to Subaru's global platform have significantly raised these standards in the current Subaru XV, and measurements have shown improved values, the driving experience does not seem to adequately reflect the standards engineers set out to achieve with the Crosstrek. There was a discrepancy between what the numbers said and what the test drivers experienced.

Therefore, engineers decided to approach this problem from a different angle. They reached out to and collaborated with medical experts, shedding new light on the factors that affect driving comfort and eye and body fatigue during long trips. They formulated hypotheses about how car movement and shocks affect certain areas of the spine, causing back pain, and how vibrations, although inaudible, affect certain areas of the inner ear and cause fatigue or motion sickness.

This new approach has led to the development of seats that reduce the discomfort experienced during long journeys that place stress on the spine (especially the cervical spine), as well as measures that significantly reduce cabin noise and achieve standards of ride quality, quietness and comfort that engineers planned to achieve in a completely new model.

The Crosstrek features Subaru's easy-to-use interface, which includes an 11.6-inch Full HD central infotainment display. In addition to touch controls, physical switches are still available for operations that the driver must be able to perform without taking their eyes off the road to ensure safe driving.

The infotainment system now features a PIN lock to prevent personal data leakage when parking using valet parking. This feature also notifies the user when the vehicle leaves a pre-defined area, which is useful if the vehicle is being driven inappropriately or has simply been stolen.

Crosstrek now also offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The new Crosstrek features X-MODE., which takes control of the engine, transmission, all-wheel drive and brakes, providing optimal traction on slippery surfaces and steep slopes. The driver can select one of two driving modes to adapt the components to different surfaces and driving conditions. X-MODE also features Hill Descent Control, which allows the driver to descend steep slopes at a safe, constant speed without pressing the brake pedal and concentrating solely on steering. For the first time in a Crosstrek, X-MODE is also available when driving in reverse.

The Crosstrek offers 220mm of ground clearance and improved approach and departure angles., which reduce the risk of a frontal collision or vehicle rollover. The new model also has a towing capacity of 1270 kg.

The new Crosstrek features the latest version of EyeSight Driver Assist technology, a collision-avoidance system that uses a wide-angle monocular camera and a stereoscopic imaging camera. Now its obstacle detection range is almost twice as wide as before. This system recognizes two-wheelers and pedestrians on the left and right side of the vehicle. Now, with a more responsive electric brake booster, pre-collision braking has been improved and braking noise has been reduced.

New generation of EyeSight Driver Assist technology. includes 14 functions, including 7 new ones (emergency braking, emergency autonomous attempt to avoid an obstacle, lane centering function, emergency lane keeping assistant, road sign recognition, intelligent speed limiter, additional EyeSight system monitor). EyeSight is standard on Crosstrek.

Other standard systems include Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB), Driver Monitoring System (DMS) and Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD), as well as other noteworthy safety features such as LED headlights with auxiliary cornering light that improve visibility in night time and help with early detection of pedestrians and cyclists, as well as a side airbag for the driver's seat (there are a total of nine airbags in the car).
