Ford unveils new Mustang GT4 at Spa

The legendary Ford Mustang is raising its profile in the sports world with today's official debut of the Mustang GT4 in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in eastern Belgium.

The Mustang GT4 is the latest model in the blue oval, which Jim Farley, Chairman and CEO of Ford, has dubbed "Ford Against Them". It was built on the basis of the new 2024 Mustang Dark Horse, like the related Mustang GT3 model. Today's unveiling marks Ford's official confirmation of its permanent presence in the SRO Motorsports Group-approved GT4 series, first introduced in 2017.

The new model features bold, colorful racing graphics that echo the designs created by Troy Lee Designs for the Mustang GT3 and SuperVan 4.2. Troy Lee is recognized as one of the leading graphic designers in the motorsport world.

“The Mustang GT4 is the highlight of our motorsport lineup,” he said. Mark Rushbrook, Global Director, Ford Performance Motorsports. “This model sits between the Mustang GT3 and the soon-to-be-released Mustang Dark Horse R, allowing the brand to compete on the track at all levels of performance. GT4 is an important part of our customer racing program. With the new version, based on the new seventh generation Dark Horse model, we have raised the bar and are ready to challenge all the world's competitors.”

The introduction of the Mustang Dark Horse in 2022 was the prelude to a series of launches for the entire Mustang racing family that will debut this year. These include the new Mustang GT4, the recently introduced Mustang GT3 and the announced Mustang Dark Horse R which continues the series. All of this will support the Mustang's reputation as Ford's most competitive and successful model, racing at legendary circuits around the world, from Daytona to Bathurst. They will be available to both professional GT racers and individual customers. The Mustang will really race anywhere.

With the new Mustang GT4, Ford Performance is expanding its close collaboration with Multimatic, which will also fill customer orders. Ford Coyote racing V8 engines for the Mustang GT4, developed entirely by Ford Performance, will be assembled by Ford in Dearborn, Michigan.

The racing Mustang GT4 features Multimatic DSSV shocks, a Holinger gear transmission, air paddle shifters, carbon fiber bodywork and a special GT4 racing aero package.
