The new Opel Astra Electric is a bestseller in an all-electric version

For the first time in its long and successful history, the Opel Astra is fully electric. The new Opel Astra Electric offers driving pleasure combined with zero emissions, even on long journeys. The range determined in accordance with the WLTP methodology is up to 418 km. without stopping to recharge. The new Astra Electric is not only quiet, but also lightweight at just 1,679 kg. This is a big advantage, felt every time you press the accelerator and in every turn.

Opel Astra Electric 2024

The new Astra Electric highlights the mesmerizing driving pleasure with inspiring, expressive and bold design and first-class equipment. Numerous driver assistance systems are available as standard. In addition, Intelli-Drive 2.0 with intelligent cruise control and semi-automatic lane change is available as an option for the first time on the electric Astra. Exceptional comfort is provided by the AGR-certified Active Sport ergonomic driver's seat as standard, while the all-digital Pure Panel® Pro cockpit with two 10-inch displays and multimedia system ensures the best possible connectivity and entertainment.

Opel Astra buyers can now choose from more powertrains than any other model bearing the "Blitz" logo. In addition to the highly efficient internal combustion engine, the Astra is now available as an electrified plug-in hybrid, as well as for the top-of-the-line Astra GSe. This year, the brand will add to its lineup the all-electric Astra Sports Tourer Electric, the first all-electric station wagon from the German manufacturer.

Driving pleasure combined with responsibility

The new Astra Electric delivers pure emission-free driving pleasure. The electric motor develops 115 kW/156 hp. and a whopping 270 Nm of torque.. Both are available from the moment you press the accelerator pedal, providing impressive starting dynamics and flexibility. The low curb weight of just 1,679 kg contributes to improved driving dynamics. Also, while many electric vehicles have a top speed limit of 150 or 160 km/h, the new Astra Electric has a top speed of 170 km/h.. Depending on the preferred driving style, the Astra Electric driver can choose from three modes: Eco, Normal or Sport.

Energy is stored in a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery, which features an efficient design, compact size and light weight, exemplary range and short charging times. New, five-door Astra Electric offers up to 418 kilometers emission-free range according to the WLTP and consumes only 14.8 kWh. electricity per 100 kilometers (WLTP). The regenerative braking system allows you to restore energy while driving. However, even when the battery needs to be recharged, it only means a short pit stop at the charging station. Charging an Astra Electric battery to 80 percent capacity at a 100 kilowatt DC fast charging station takes about 30 minutes. In addition, the all-electric Astra Electric comes standard with an onboard 11kW three-phase charger that can be plugged into a home charging station.

The battery is practically hidden under the chassis, so it does not reduce the amount of space available for passengers or luggage. Even with the back seat folded down Astra Electric offers 352 liters of boot space.. With the rear seats folded down, this volume increases to 1268 liters. Another advantage of this battery arrangement is the lowering of the car's center of gravity, which helps the Astra Electric to hold the road steadily and the driver to sit in a sportier position. In addition, the torsional stiffness has been increased by 31% compared to the already excellent values of other Astra variants.

Opel Astra Electric GS: top equipment and top design as standard

Thanks to the torsional rigidity of the body and the extensive use of noise reduction solutions, the driver and passengers traveling in the Astra Electric are provided with a comfortable ride. For example, laminated glass (offered as standard) effectively calms the interior by stopping noise and sounds from outside. The ergonomic Active Sport driver's seat offers Astra Electric drivers the unsurpassed comfort typical of Opel vehicles. Certified by the German organization Aktion Gesunder Rücken eV (AGR; Healthy Back Campaign), the chair guarantees excellent lateral stability and has a wide range of manual and electrical adjustments.

The wide range of driver assistance systems available as standard includes: Forward Collision Warning with Low Speed Auto Braking and Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition, Driver Attention Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop function and Go, Parkpilot front and rear parking assistance, and a 360-degree Intelli-Vision camera.

The new Astra Electric offers numerous technologies and driver assistance systems as standard, including:

Using the integrated Snapdragon® Automotive Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies3, the Astra Electric multimedia system offers enhanced graphics, multimedia and computer vision capabilities. The intuitive human-machine interface (HMI) with two large 10-inch displays shows all important information for the driver, such as battery charge or range, and allows you to control the air conditioner at the touch of a button. And with a large electronic HUD and natural language recognition, the driver's eyes are always focused on the road ahead.
