World premiere: Volkswagen ID.7 with a range of up to 700 km

Volkswagen presented its new model: ID.7. This is the brand's first electric limousine from Wolfsburg. The combination of a range of up to 700 kilometers (WLTP), a sophisticated drive system, a spacious interior and first-class technology opens up exciting prospects for Volkswagen's new electric flagship.

With a length of almost five meters, the model also impresses with its well-thought-out, customer-oriented operating concept and high-quality workmanship. ID.7 launch scheduled for this year in Europe and China, and in 2024 in North America.

ID.7 is the first model to use the MEB platform.

The Volkswagen ID.7 is the first model to use the MEB platform combined with a completely new, more efficient drivetrain. With a power of 286 hp. it is the highest torque motor in the ID range. This engine will be used in ID.7 regardless of the selected battery capacity. The drive with the internal designation APP550 was developed in cooperation with Volkswagen Group Components in Kassel and is manufactured there.

The new drive system has been optimized primarily in terms of energy consumption. Depending on the battery capacity, it is expected that the WLTP range will be up to 700 kilometers, and the charging power will be up to about 200 kW.. Such parameters make the ID.7 ideal for long-distance travel.

The ID.7's hull is almost five meters long and is designed to keep air resistance to a minimum. The roofline slopes elegantly towards the rear, reminiscent of a coupe. Effect? Extremely aerodynamically perfect body - the cx coefficient is only about 0.23.depending on the equipment. The long wheelbase and short overhangs mean there is plenty of room inside the car for all passengers.

ID.7 with exclusive equipment options

ID.7 introduces a new management concept. In this way, Volkswagen has responded to customer suggestions and improved service in important areas. The standard equipment of the ID.7 includes, among other things:

• 5 inch infotainment screen,
• projection display with augmented reality,
• a new concept of air conditioner operation with an easily accessible panel and buttons to which you can assign your favorite functions,
• illuminated touch sliders.

With new seats with enhanced massage function and an auto-dimming panoramic sunroof, the ID.7 offers equipment options only found in high-end cars. The degree of transparency of the glass of the new panoramic sunroof can be switched using touch controls. Like many other features in the ID.7, the roof can also be controlled by voice commands - this is done using the new IDA voice assistant.

Also new are the optional front seats: Adaptive Climatronic seats are available for the first time at Volkswagen. – with cooling and heating on demand, as well as a drying function. There is also a massage function certified by the German Campaign for a Healthy Back (AGR).

The range of options is rounded off by the 700W Harman Kardon sound system: 14 high-quality speakers, including a front center speaker and a subwoofer in the luggage compartment, ensure impressive sound in the new Volkswagen sedan.

Best in class driver assistance systems

Travel Assist with hive intelligence allows the ID.7 to operate the vehicle in semi-automatic mode. Volkswagen developed this feature in collaboration with CARIAD, the software company behind the Volkswagen Group. If needed, the ID.7 can also use Travel Assist to help you change lanes on motorways when driving at speeds above 90 km/h. The driver monitors the maneuver, but driving the vehicle itself is much easier.

When it comes to parking, the flagship ID. Volkswagen can independently perform various parking maneuvers. One of the solutions available in ID.7 is memory parking. The driver can then take the wheel or control the parking procedure from outside the vehicle via a smartphone app.

Accelerated electric offensive: ten new models by 2026

The new ID.7 is one of ten new electric vehicles that Volkswagen will launch by 2026. Only this year updated ID.3, ID. Buzz with extended wheelbase and ID.7.

The electric compact SUV and the production version of the Volkswagen ID. 2 all priced below €25,000 are scheduled for 2026. As a result, the Wolfsburg-based brand will have the widest range of electric vehicles compared to its competitors.

The new ID.7 for the European and North American markets will roll off the assembly line at Volkswagen's Emden plant, while the vehicle for the Chinese market will be produced locally.
