The new Porsche 911 GTS is more dynamic than ever


Approximately one and a half years after the launch of the 992 generation, the 911 model range is expanding the family with sporty GTS variants. The first version of the 911 GTS debuted 12 years ago. Now comes a new version of this popular version of Porsche's iconic sports car. It has become stronger and more visually expressive, while at the same time providing better than ever driving dynamics. Its 6-cylinder boxer engine delivers 353 kW (480 hp), 22 kW (30 hp) more than the current 911 Carrera S and the previous 911 GTS.

The portfolio of the new 911 GTS now includes five variants:

  • The rear-wheel drive 911 Carrera GTS is available in coupe and convertible versions.
  • 911 Carrera 4 GTS with all-wheel drive, available as coupe and convertible
  • 911 Targa 4 GTS with all-wheel drive

Porsche's eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) or seven-speed manual transmission, as well as the GTS-specific suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the 911 Turbo's high-performance braking system, ensure excellent transmission of longitudinal and lateral forces. In addition, driving dynamics can be enhanced with the Lightweight Design package, which will be available for the first time for the GTS and will reduce the car's weight by up to 25 kg.

The new variants have an understated sporty look, thanks in part to black contrasting body parts and tinted headlights. Black also dominates the interior, with numerous Race-Tex microfiber finishes combining a dynamic ambiance with elegance. And the latest generation of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) operating system offers many improvements in terms of operation and connectivity.

Technique: specific suspension and unique sports exhaust system

The turbocharged 6-cylinder 3.0-litre engine in the new 911 GTS delivers 353 kW (480 hp). The maximum torque is 570 Nm, which is 20 Nm more than the previous generation. The 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe with Porsche's 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (PDK) accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor. As an alternative to the PDK gearbox, all variants of the 911 GTS are offered with a 7-speed manual gearbox with an especially short lever throw.

The chassis, taken from the 911 Turbo and modified for the new 911 GTS, meets the high performance requirements. The standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) makes the shock absorbers react at lightning speed to changing conditions. PASM suspension is standard on the Coupe and Convertible versions, combined with a 10mm lower sports chassis. The 911 Turbo variants feature a rear auxiliary spring concept that keeps the main springs under tension in all driving situations. The degree of reflection remains the same. The 911 Targa 4 GTS variant uses the 911 Targa 4S chassis with PASM.

The engineers have also adapted the braking performance to match the increased power of the 911 GTS. The new variants use the high-performance 911 Turbo braking system, which also includes 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) black center-bolt discs. An even more immersive soundtrack is provided by the standard sports exhaust system – thanks to a special configuration of the GTS that omits some of the interior insulation.

Appearance: A range of black accents with a matte or gloss finish.

The hallmark of the 911 GTS are numerous body parts in black or darkened. The 911 Targa 4 GTS range also includes a distinctive bumper and the word "targa". Finished in high-gloss black, accessories include a spoiler, center-bolt alloy wheels, bonnet grille and GTS lettering on the doors and rear of the vehicle. Optionally, you can choose an exterior package in which these and other details are finished in high-gloss black.

All variants of the 911 GTS are equipped with the Sport Design package with distinctive front and rear aprons and side sill trims. The headlight surrounds and daytime running light trim are blacked out, and standard equipment includes LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus). In addition, GTS variants have unique taillights.

Weight optimization package (lightweight): less weight, more downforce

Driving dynamics can be further enhanced with the Lightweight Design* package, which will be available for the first time for the 911 GTS. Installing lighter carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) bucket seats, lightweight glass (side and rear windows) and a lightweight battery can save up to 25kg. The package also includes the removal of the rear seats. Other performance upgrades standard on this package include a steerable rear axle as well as additional aerodynamic trim pieces.

Interior: Black Race-Tex fabric and standard Plus sport seats.

The sporty details continue in the interior of the new 911 GTS, both functionally and visually. The shift lever for the optional 7-speed manual transmission has been shortened by 10mm for fast gear changes - with a flick of the wrist. Standard equipment includes a GT sports steering wheel, Sport Chrono package with drive mode selector, Porsche Track Precision app and tire temperature indicator. Standard Plus sport seats with 4-way power adjustment combine superior lateral support with comfort. The limited interior insulation has a positive effect on the acoustic aspect of emotional driving.

Numerous Race-Tex microfibre components accentuate the dynamic yet elegant interior ambience, including seat center panels, steering wheel, door handles and armrests, glove box lid and shift lever. Decorative stitching is optionally available in Carmine Red or Crayon as part of the GTS trim package. The same contrasting hues are featured on the seat belts and "GTS" lettering on the Sport Chrono tachometer and stopwatch, as well as the embroidered headrests. Along with the GTS interior package, decorative moldings on the dashboard and door panels are brushed carbon fiber.

A new concept of information display and control: now also with Android Auto

The new generation of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) operating system offers additional functions and is even easier to operate. The user can now rearrange tiles on the home screen, and the touchpads in the Media menu have been enlarged. The improved voice assistant recognizes naturally articulated commands and can be activated with the slogan "Hey Porsche".
