Volkswagen California is a thoughtful and comfortable mobile home. The car is available in three versions: Beach, Coast and Ocean. In addition, each of them is now available in the "Edition" package with exclusive additions. How is the Beach version different from the Coast and Ocean versions? Visually, these cars differ from each other in differently tuned front end. The upper part of the grille, adorned in the Ocean version with five chrome fins, forms a single unit with the new LED headlights. The Coast version has two chrome fins. In the California 6.1 Ocean, a stripe in a similar style can also be found on the bumper. The contemporary styling of the California 6.1 Beach features a host of chrome accents that echo its world-famous Bulli T1 predecessor.
The Coast and Ocean versions have typical camping accommodations, while the Beach version is a more versatile vehicle - a compact but comfortable living room, kitchen and bedroom all rolled into one. And it drives like a car. Ideal for spontaneous trips to the beach or the city.

At California 6.1 Beach you will find a mini stove with one gas burner and a small worktop, thanks to which we can cook simple meals on the go. The California 6.1 Ocean and Coast offers travelers a full range of equipment - a two-burner gas stove, a stable lid that can be used as a countertop, and a removable sink bowl. On the side wall is a camping structure with numerous cabinets. With its compact, clean design reminiscent of a small yacht, this piece of furniture has been thoughtfully designed with practical details such as additional dual USB ports. In addition, a productive compressor refrigerator and a table where you can eat comfortably. Thanks to them, on a trip around the world, you can discover not only distant countries, but also exotic tastes of hand-cooked dishes.
And when, after a busy day and after dinner, you want to go to bed comfortably? There is nothing easier! California 6.1 invites you inside! In the Beach version, a large seating area, a new rollaway bed and a comfortable upstairs bed ensure a good night's sleep wherever you go. The Coast and Ocean variants share a raised roof solution that creates a tent with a large front entrance. On the California 6.1 Ocean, the roof is electro-hydraulic as standard. On the Coast version, the roof is lifted manually as standard, with an electro-hydraulic drive available as an option. Above the entire cabin, a bed with a new belleville spring base is installed under the lifting roof. Below is another bed with adjustable backrest, making it possible to create a comfortable double sofa bed. Some people don't like waking up early on vacation, so side blinds now provide optimal protection against too bright light, which are mounted both under the pop-up roof and at the bottom of the car. And another interesting fact: waking up has become more pleasant thanks to the new rising sun function, which controls the lighting of the living area, gradually increasing the brightness level at a user-defined time. This is called a good start to the day!
The sunrise function is controlled, as are all the California 6.1's main settings, via a newly developed control unit on a console located in the car's ceiling. All kinds of information can be accessed through the control panel. The following functions can be set in the menu: Camping (Mode), Refrigerator, Max Charge, Rear Air Conditioner, Alarm Clock, Timer, Light, and System Settings. The electro-hydraulic pop-up roof is also controlled from the Pop-up Roof menu, and heating, which is available at no extra cost on board in the top-of-the-line Ocean, is available from the Auxiliary Heating menu. The rising sun function can be controlled in the "Light" menu and activated with the "Alarm clock". A particularly practical feature is the new "Level" function: the level indicator shows the pitch and pitch at which the California can be parked at the campsite. This makes it much easier to achieve the desired level of motorhome.
However, California 6.1 is not only a smart home on wheels - it is also a digital modernity. Optionally, it can be ordered with a fully digital instrument panel: digital cockpit. The configurability of the infotainment expansion concept starts with the color monitor (6.5-inch touchscreen) of the Modular Infotainment System Generation 2 (MIB2). Two solutions from the Modular Infotainment System (MIB3) are the next step up: Discover Media (8-inch touchscreen) and Discover Pro (9.2-inch touchscreen) navigation systems. A common feature of MIB2 and MIB3 is the connection to the online connection module and the built-in eSIM. Through this interface, California 6.1 connects to We Connect and We Connect Plus mobile online services and features. Customers who choose one of the MIB3 series devices, i.e. Discover Media or Discover Pro, can access even more features. These include streaming services, internet radio, and voice control.
A wide range of driver assistance systems includes Lane Assist, Park Assist 3.0, side protection function (warns of obstacles when maneuvering) and Trailer Assist (facilitates maneuvering with a trailer). It also includes the standard Cross Wind Assist system, which automatically stabilizes the motorhome in high winds. Adaptive Suspension Control DCC is available as an option and is infinitely adjustable for the first time. The buyer can also order a rear view camera - Rear View, in one of two options.
The car was also equipped with other well-known assistance systems: standard electronic stability control (ESC) and automatic collision braking systems, start-off assistant, descent assistant (for models with 4MOTION all-wheel drive), tire pressure monitoring, front space monitoring a vehicle with automatic city emergency braking, lane change assistant, active cruise control up to 210 km/h, cruise control with speed limiter, dipped-beam assistant to switch to the road and vice versa, and parking assistant. California 6.1 is the perfect choice not only for a walk along the coast, but also for shopping in the jungle of a big city. Thanks to its compact size and ease of driving - like a car - this car is a suitable companion and entertainment center at the same time.
The California 6.1 is powered by a powerful turbodiesel direct injection (TDI) engine available in three power ratings: 81kW/110hp, 110kW/150hp. and 146 kW/199 hp 150 and 199 hp engines can be combined with 4MOTION all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DSG). The standard DSG transmission works with the top 199 hp engine, for the 150 hp engine. it can be ordered as an option. All California 6.1 TDI engines comply with the latest Euro 6d TEMP EVAP ISC emissions standard.
